What kind of business insurance do i need if i am doing cars and going to start doing res.

get your contractor lincense for your state they'll let you know the minimal amount of cover for your business.

$2milloin dollars ins. thru zurich cost use to cost me $1600-$1800/year. but if your just doing cars it will be less and you need is garage keepers ins..

Garage keepers will cover any damage to the vehicle while its in your possesion, pretty big one there. Shop around, tell insurance agents what your doing and they will be able to set you up with some rates to look at.

Depends on your state. I have $1,000,000 general liability coverage. It costs $350 per year...thats right...but I dont have to have any license to do business in Texas.

Both right/ get an all encompassing garage keepers (DIRECT PRIMARY) policy with the liability included.

Even if you never make a claim, you can at least advertise that you are fully insured and that will get some money back plus youll look really professional.
