Sorry to hear that. Keep your head up
When you pop the trunk there's a small compartment to the left, everything is under there, there is one to the right as well that I cover, but was told that side won't get wet, I still cover it up anyway..
dang. sorry to hear that. Just like the bmw 7series.
I got burnt on the Benz. 1000.00 module.
i cover them in scrap tint, wrap towels around them, and stuff new rolls of paper towels up in the wells
I've heard that they need to be covered on certain models...
What year model was that one???
that sux!i tint for an audi dealer, i cover that unit on the left.why not remove the tint and have the customer bring the car back in a day or two and play dumb?
sorry to hear bro

A shop close by me burned up an Audi like that! Sorry to hear that dude! I guess i'll just put them on the cars not to do list!!!!!!It would probably be cheaper in the long run!
It was an 08, I hear the a5 has the same unit in the trunk as well..Yeah I'm not sure if the reward is worth the risk on this one..

I have seen some people use those old soda caanister and soak the crap out of the rear window decks
Spray bottle, I always try to not soak the b/g's anyway but this one got me....
You've been really unlucky with this one - but thanks for sharing the info. We've done quite a few of these an never had a problem - I'll make sure we cover em up in future

Wow, that really sux man. You should get a purple heart for that one even if there was no blood! I did the exact same thing on the exact same car and I did cover it up. Now I just charge the customer an extra hour labor to take apart the interior of the trunk and fully wrap the units. I do the same thing on the 7 series
Never had a problem on the 7 series, could you elaborate?
QUOTE (sunlimitedCT @ May 22 2009, 03:26 PM) [*]688551[/*] Never had a problem on the 7 series, could you elaborate? In the BMW 7 trunk, if you pull back the right side wheel well covering, you will see a computer module that is completely unprotected from water that will run down into that area when the rear window is tinted. You need to pull that wheel well cover back and wrap that sucker to keep it dry, otherwise when the car is started that unit will short and it will cost a fortune to replace.
Thanks, again I've never heard of that, never had a problem with s5 either till the other day...Again thanks for the heads up
Cheers for the heads up wouldnt want to be replacing one of these!
whow!
