Question regarding felt in windows

I need to go back to my tinter for the second time to redo my windows. They are so contaminated it’s not even funny. My driver side window is really bad. I stopped counting after 25 dirt specs.
I didn’t see him use any tape on the felt on the windows. They are frameless. I have a few questions before I go back to him.

1. Does hairspray work as well as tape?
2. Can I apply the hairspray before he strips the tint? I am planning on applying the hairspray right before I leave my house and meet him at the tint shop.
3. How exactly do you apply the hairspray? Do you just move the rubber part out of the way and spray it onto the felt part of the window?

I wish I would have known about contamination and taping felt and all that stuff before I went to him. I guess you live and learn.
Thanks guys.

Uh, if they're frameless windows, its not felt Your seeing its dirt...poundsand.gif What kind of car is it?
tintgirl70
It's a 2003 toyota solara. I thought if you use something on the felt part while you are tinting the windows it will help keep away contamination.

On a frameless window, there is no felt touching the glass on installation gasp.gif If there is contamination in a frameless window it is DIRT!

So, no felt. Than how does he get so much contamination on the window!?! Most of it is on the side of the window.
Booms2Go
Uh...He sucks? gasp.gif
Booms2Go
If You stopped counting at 25 pieces of contamination, there really is no other explanation for it....sorry! Unless He just happened to be hanging that window at the beach.gif

there are a number of ways, inproper cleaning , dity peelboard ,to having crap in his sprayer just to name a few . mr.p may be right , he might not get it ...
tintgirl70
You guys are funny. But you are right. He does suck ! I don’t think I want this guy to touch my windows again. I don't think it will come out any better.
Is there anybody here on this board who can retint two of my windows? He used Madico charcool. Ideally I need all my windows redone. They all look bad, but the worst ones are the driver side and the little window next to it. I can’t afford to have the whole car retinted.

I'm on the wrong side of the country...sorry....someone help a sister out! eyebrows.gif

i would have him strip it and ask for your money back ...
nctinter
I can't remember but there might be felt on the mirror side rubber??? That may be what you see. Regardless if it is felt or dirt, it is a crappy job. I agree, ask him to strip it and give money back first.

Okay guys, here is the deal. I will try to get my money back. In case I actually do get a refund I would need someone else to do a full tint job on my car. But it has to be someone from this board, because you guys actually know what you are doing and you really care about your work. I am not going to go to a tint shop I know nothing about and risking trading one lousy tint job for another lousy tint job. I might as well leave my tint on my car. Even if you check out their work it doesn't mean they will do a good job on your car. I have seen plenty of posts on here where this was the case. So, who wants to tint my windows, LOL? I live in Torrance but I am willing to drive up to 35 miles. Or if you could recommend a tint shop that does great work that would be awesome. Thanks guys.
Monique
I'd like to help you out, as I also use Madico's Charcool, BUT I'm a little past 35 miles away. Just get on the 101 north in LA and take the Railroad Avenue exit. It's just about 400 miles north! Solara's are cake. How can anyone mess one up so badly?

if you go to a busy shop that has 3-5 cars there at any time and look at their work and its good, chances are they'll do a good job on your car.
