Sounds lame but I don't understand why I couldn't get it down. wall.gif tantrum.gif The rear window kept giving me h3ll, is this a easy shrink? I mean I've done quite a few cars with success some pretty hard ones like rabbit or gtis.
Had to send them home with no tint which I hate to do.

I was trying to dry shrink with wax , and moved on to soap. I'm using QDP for this one and usually don't have any problems except here and there but I always get it done.
Any advice or tips on where to anchor it down and whats the best method to do it.

they aren't quite as easy as they look. I'd say their about a medium shrink, since its pretty evenly distributed. once you do one, then their cake.

basically set your anchor a tad high, and go back and forth maybe 2 layers on the top and bottom. Then i like to do a little lift and pull in the corners and then move back and smooth out the center, then smooth out the sides. I don't know if that makes sense. I used QDP and I think they shrink down pretty easy

If you are having trouble getting it all in one piece, you could always tint up to the lines at the top then cut a piece in to cover the lines?
Jerry250f
I tried that too. I was thinking about vinyling the top. I have to say I've gotten alot better at shrinking but idk what the heck happened. Frustrating I wasted alot of time on it today.
Maybe I will try another go at it if I can find someone with a charger who doesn't mind me practicing.

Oh yeah and I have been using QDP for a while now and I just got a new roll last week that I used on this job same stuff as before, is there any possibility of something being defective on the roll? I've done idk 6 trucks or so on this roll but no real shrinking was needed.
ClassOnGlass
qdp is not the easiest shrink you need high heat and leave the film longer so you can shrink to where you need it and discard the rest

and by no means is that car a easy shrink especially with qdp

bingo.gif Good advice!!!

The widows difficult because its so TALL gasp.gif... With windows like that You need to learn how to "feed" the excess tint out to the sides of the window WHILE Your shrinking it. Hard to explain, but when You start Your shrink on the bottom, instead of pushing down with the hard card, go down and out towards the sides. This gets rid of ALOT of excess film. Try it...krazy.gif Sounds crazy but it works. No need to two piece or vinyl that window.

I used suntek carbon before and loved how it shrank, maybe I might use that more often?
ClassOnGlass
you have to learn you way around the global shrink it take a bit of practice ....im using solargard at the present for my main line and it shrinks like butter
Jerry250f
Global swears they're the best for shrinking and things and its nice but sometimes it doesn't do what I want it to. I really like the film and the color but I guess ill have to really get good with it or use something easier.

I did one last week. I thought it would be cake but there's more to it than you'd think. I did it the same way as I do Neon's or last style Intrepids... same as mentioned above. Do the lined section at the top in a separate piece. I find it lays down over the lines better too ? I still have the issue where one day I'll do a Mazda 6 sedan with no issues and the next day an Altima rear window will kick my ass. Just depends I guess. I always get them down though. If it's Global, like classonglass said, leave extra at the top and bottom, lift and pull and shrink a healthy amount near the anchor and continue down. It'll work out.
JayZTint
Sorry to hear bro, that was definately not as easy as it looked my first time on that ride, take it slow next time, were u in a rush??

yeah on the cars that need more shrink you need to leave it longer because it needs a lot of heat so it has a tendency to burn at the edges

are you using a real heat gun or a 29.99 special you need the red milwalkie or craftsman pro to shrink that film right global sends you a model number when you buy your first roll on suggested heat gun

I use a cheap azz Milwakee and never had a problem with this window, and I do it wet. I think it just comes down to experience. Keep trying Jerry. Difficult to lay b/c of the length though.

I was in no hurry at all. I actually took my time and messed with it for 3 hours. I told them to drop it off while I did it and then the called at the 3 hour mark and that was it I told them to just take it.
I always make sure I have the whole day available when im doing a vehicle I've never done before incase I run into a big problem.

I am using my red milwaukee . Its a hot ass gun. I know I don't have a ton of experience but I've did a lot for me so far with working a full time job and doing my own tint.

I didnt have any problems burning the edges. The back window in the center was like 30" or 31" and I had like 35ish on there to work with
I even tried cutting at the lines , I think it could be a combination of experience and I lost some motivation when the 2nd truck for today canceled while I was doing my first one so I left for about 2 hours.

Thats what I use and love it! ..

Sometimes you have those days tinting where the easiest of windows will give you trouble,

Happens to me, just brush it off beer.gif

The only real problem that I had with shrinking the back window of that car was when I was finished with it. I couldnt get the weird pattern at the top of the window to lay down. It wasn't sticking at all when it was wet so I just waited a few days and pushed it up with my fingers. Stuck perfectly. Good luck with yours bro.
