Full Version: Madico Charcool 42

Rishi
Hey, got my windows tinted in 2008 Mercedes-Benz C300... they used Madico Charcool... very nice film.

My question is, they re-tint my front right due to a hairline scratch in the middle of the film. With the new tint film on that window, I see like a water/air lump all the way in the corner near the side-mirror... it doesn't look like a bubble but a lump... is this normal? I just got it done yesterday, May 26th.

Also, I see like 3-4 tiny line, look like trails all together... tinter tried to squeeze it down and it was getting normal but back to trails so basically, it is not scratches. It looks like a scratch but its a line of bubble? What do you guys think about that?
TintDude
Sounds like a little left over water and a smear from moving air out of a dry area. Let it dry and it should all clear up.

Can you post a pic for us?

Sounds like Your seeing water. Give it a week to fully dry. If there still there, bring it back for a redo. Thats just sloppy squeegee technique, but if its water... newbieemoticon.gif

I tried taking pictures but it is not capturing it for some reason. I think its because of the rain. I will try again tomorrow.

I remember you from May 9th as you had a bogus post you had made. As you said you had got this web site from a tinter that you know. So is this for real or what?

Are you asking this so you have sum input when you go back to the place that installed the film? As in if it does not go away in a few days? dunno.gif

yes

May be sum adhesive that got left behind from the removal process if what you are describing is 3 to 4 lines in a trail. As a pic of this would be more helpful.

sorry for the bad picture quality... it looks like a lump but man, it has been raining wedesday, thursday, friday... no sun... tuesday is the day when i got that window done again.

also,

i couldn't capture the picture of those snail track lines... very very thin line bubble.
mikeMN
Hard to tell with the flash but if you can feel a lump it is possibly a small piece of adhesive that came out of the gasket during the install process of the new film. If it does not go away and it bothers you take it back. Did you pay for this window to get replaced or did they do it for no charge?
scottydosnntkno
I don't think it looks that bad dunno.gif

I always tell people if they have an issue that I can redo it, but can't guarantee it will be any better the second time because of things like this where adhesive might get in the corners or gasket or someplace else. Or there may be a tiny bit left on the glass that the razor missed, etc.

Rishi
i think the lump is a bubble...

here is the snail tracks i was talking about... this is on left front window (only that line but everything is perfect).... i got the similar one on my front right window which they replaced but it have very tiny, about 3-4, snail tracks
... tint tried to squeeze it down and it was going away but kept coming back so he said its not a scratch... it should go away soon... today is the first day sun is out since we had rain all last week!
darrin1
if its adhesive from another piece i would redo it. but i can't tell from the pic.
Rishi
that picture... its first time tinting that window... haven't gotten redone... because that window is perfect beside that line
mikeMN
The one on the driver side if it does not go away in a few more days you should return to the place that did the job and have them redo that window as you will be looking at it every day. As far as the passenger window let that dry as well and if it appears to be getting better as the days pass wait a little more as you have stated it has been raining all last week as this will slow down the drying time of the film also. So give it more time to dry and place the car in the sun as much as you can as this will speed up the drying process. So come back on here in a few more days with an update. twocents.gif
Rishi
Big Back Glass - Will that go away?

Big Back Glass

Driver's Side - only one line, the rest of that window is perfect - not sure if I want to get it redone... maybe it wouldn't look perfect as before if I go ahead for a redo

Front Right Window... see those snail's tracks?

Front Right Window... see those 2 small lump, bubble on right side?
TintDude
nope

huh?
Tint Wife
Backglass looks like air. Door glasses look like they have adhesive trails left behind.........redo. Can't make out the 'lumps' you're referring to on the FRW.
mikeMN
No they will not you may even see more appear as time will pass.

No it will not, sorry "nope" wasn't sufficient. That's contamination.
vclimber

Take it back... have another installer work on it because that was beyond incidental contamination. twocents.gif

Big Back Glass no that will not go away..contamination

Driver's Side - only one line, the rest of that window is perfect - not sure if I want to get it redone... maybe it wouldn't look perfect as before if I go ahead for a redo -- looks like left over glue or a crease..redo

Front Right Window... see those snail's tracks? looks like glue - redo

Front Right Window... see those 2 small lump, bubble on right side? those are from doing the window without taking the panel off or taking the seal out and sliding the film down past the seal..the film get crinkled up like that from what we call tucking the film.

Rishi
aw man... thanks for your input guys.

at the tint place, there is only 1 tinter... that would suck if he had to do the back glass again... would create a lot of mess... he used a steamer for my front right window... last time i showed him the back glass, he said its bubble... let it heal first... i think i am going to have him do the front two windows again if those do not go away
tintgirl70
I am having the same problem with my back window with madico charcool. My contamination is a lot worse than yours though. I have a cluster of 20 specs in one area and another of 5 specs. I'ts rediculous. The tinter actually blames it on the tint film. He says this particular tint shows everything. I'm getting mine redone this week.

is he going to give you a refund and strip it , as we last talked ?

He won't give me a refund. He said he would redo all the windows I am not happy with.
