Hi lovely Tintdude people:

I notice people aren't fans of putting film on old Saturns. I've been wanting to get a film forever on my 94 twin cam, since it gets hot here in LA.

I am looking at Charcool (maybe - I actually don't want color, just to block UV and heat...), and I have found (online) a reputable installer (though if you have suggestions, feel free) here.

But should I worry about whether they're going to do it right? Are there enough people with old Saturns putting films on that most installers will have had experience with it? Will it be obvious if they do a bad job? I am not a "car person."

Your input is much appreciated.

If it's the 4 door, make sure Your tinter of choice has MAD skills! Those are among the most hated, if not THE most hated back glass out there. It's possible to do, but believe Me, You WILL be able to tell if He does a bad job! trust.gif

Just my luck that we happen to own 2 of them as our daily drivers and I had to tint them both :(

Thanks for the replies! That was really fast.

Yes, it is the four door. It has been a pretty reliable car, but I do wish they hadn't felt a need to be quite so original with the glass in back. You can't even really squeegee it right.

So, this LB55 person... anybody know where he works?

I have a 2002 sl1, the one with the bubble window and think its a lot harder than the twin cams dunno.gif

The S series you have Scotty is easier than the older ones because you have to pull the rear deck on the old ones and it is a trickier shrink. I hear you though on your car. It has a pretty good curve. That was the back window I learned how to shrink on. I didn't realize how curved it is. Now I have done hundreds and hundreds of them so they are easy peasy.

I find on the old ones it is better to wet shrink the top and dry the rest....or is it reversed. Crap I can't remember. I haven't done one in a while

Hope I NEVER do one again........ thumb.gif

Are the 2001 Saturn b/g and the 99 Cavalier b/g pretty much the same ?
Gonna have one of those to do in the near future.

To Me neither one of those is hard to do if You take Your time. thumb.gif Just alot of shrinking on the cavalier.

I guess thats true I do remember dealing with the deck. The last and only one I did was like 4 years ago. It took me like 10 times to get my window done with no creases, but it was one of the first ones I ever did lol2.gif

not only are they a pain but the headliner and backdeck usually falls apart by just touching it from sun damages. Usually getting dirt under the tint. Might be best to take out rear deck on the bad ones

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
