There really isn't an UNBIAS site on the internet about what film is best. Each of the quotes I received from companies bashed the other companies, Vista, LLUMAR, 3M. I just want a honest answer. Firs I got a great deal on 200SF of LLUMAR DR35,25 installed for 1000. With Vista, their VS61 film, It's clear and looks like you could not tell its up on the window. MY main concern is HEAT/Solar reduction. I have Large windows in my Great room and I am concerned with fading and most importantly Lowering the cost of the AC bill. LLuars DR25 cuts 65% of Solar heat while VISTA VS61 is only 50pct? Will I notice a big difference? Which film is better?

Your feedback will be greatly appreciated because I have NO clue which one will solve my heating and fading problem.

Thanks,

Tony

They all work well for specific applications. For instance, if your main concern is heat reduction then DR 25 is the film you would want. But, if you also are concerned about the product being too reflective or too dark the VS 61 might be a better choice (There are even better choices in the Vista line thand the VS 61). twocents.gif

many questions need to be asked, if you dont like the shiny appearance on the outside of the glass then you would have to go with the 61, but, i would go with a geoshield 70%Ir or a Geo50% as it has good clarity seeing out.

What are the other in VISTA that are a good choice?

If glare is a concern then vs61 isnt what you want. I like V33, V38, and V51 for residential applications. Although DR is a great film have your dealer show you some other films in the vista line. Plus vista has 99.9 % UV protection vs. DRs 99%.

also if fading is a concern then you might want a darker film for actual visible light has some to do with fading aswell. The more light you block will also help slow the fading process down. With the lighter films you will notice a slight drop in temps but it wont be noticeable to you as far as glare which seems to be more noticeable when installed to some. I have alot of people say they dont want it to be too dark in thier home with the film but when you walk in they have all the blinds down and shut which makes it very dark and when the film is installed you can leave the blinds open or up and let more light in then before without letting all the heat in. DR 25 is a good looking well performing film and you will get some added benefits like more daytime privacy and more glare reduction.

id go with the dr25, its my most popular film here in cali. but could be dark for where u are.

15% difference is huge.

dr35 blocks out 56

i believe vistas v33 and v38 block out 56% as well but the 33 breaks a lot of glass

If you live in an area where there are assocciation rules then they may not allow those dark films. Are you married or are you the only one that is deciding? Most women do not like windows that dark and prefer a more natural look.

First issue, recognize that Llumar is the generic version of CP tint, whereas Vista is a specialized dealer. Vista outperforms on clarity in almost every instance. Will be more expensive, but is the highest quality. VS 61 versus DR 25 is comparing apples to oranges. If you want a VS (spectrally selective) go with VS 70 (the old VS 75 is now available to Llumar dealers). Next, DR 25 is a dyed film, and not an alloy. If we are looking at high performance and dual reflectivity, go with a a V18. Screaming performance, metal alloy, true dual reflective (and should be around $--- to $--- a square). DR 25 should be in the $--- to $--- range.

Have you ever compared V-38 to DR 35 in clarity, looks, and price?

VS 61 is not SS nor is it the same technology as VS 70.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
