Thanx Hey Solar, Done quite a few of these and that tool is a must have for Defenders - that said for the rear windows either side of the rear screen I would not take them out unless you have clear access. Make a very good template and fit them in situ. Reason being that they are so close to interior trim that you cannot get your hand in to re-fit the rubber without taking a load of car apart. You'll see what I mean if you get one with seats etc in the back - and it does not pop off as easily as the internal surround for that window. Good luck TT
I have this tool, covers almost all locking strip type gaskets.
Got mine from snap-on, makes it whole load easier. I always take out the windows either side of the rear screen although it does require the side panel (around the sliding windows) to be removed on newer vehicles - about 06-07 onwards i think...
only prob i came across once was when i removed the windows, i presumed the etching was on the outside of the glass and when i came to re fit them after tinting i found out that one glass had been replaced before at some stage with the wrong sided glass so the etching was on the inside on one side. had to retint it then.

just curious, do you guys tint all of the glass on the sliders (tuck it right under the seal) or cut it to the seal and leave a strip of the glass untinted

whats the crack with removing the sliders? You dont have too, but its a million times easier, and a billion x's cleaner, and you get a job which is 110%
do you have to drill all the riverst out or what? Yeah, drill out the rivets, and then re rivet back in, gotta be carefull not to scratch the paint work, time, and a steady hand is the key for these puppies Please tell me more Tom? Linted? - whats that? Paper towel.... ;) Pentagon term... QUOTE (Solar-Shades @ Jul 9 2009, 01:42 PM) [*]701379[/*] whats the crack with removing the sliders? Nope, Rubber covers them lil bad boys!
so the cover flicks off nd you just replace the rivet?
do you just knock the old rivet into the body after drilling the head off? QUOTE (Solar-Shades @ Jul 3 2009, 08:33 PM) [*]699555[/*] OMG.... Make that 3 110's next week...
