Tinting Lower Hatch Window on 2008 Prius

Hi,
I just had my 2008 Prius tinted. The installer did not tint the lower hatch window. From the outside, it is not noticeable, but it is from the inside and I find it very distracting while driving. When I requested that he tint it, he said he would attempt it but he would not be responsible for any damage to the spoiler from the heat gun used to 'mold' the tint to the shape of the glass.
It's obvious to me that this would be his first time doing this on this car, so that makes me a bit nervous. But, I definitely want the window tinted and I don't want to take it another place and pay again to have this piece done.
My question for those of you who have done this is....how much risk is there of damaging the spoiler while using the heat gun? Also, any tips from those experienced folks that I can maybe pass on to my guy if I have him do it?
Many thanks in advance!

I am pretty sure it is plastic. I haven't seen a prius in the shop for a while though. Am I right guys?
We have never tinted those lower windows

just did one this morning. didnt even phase me at all. it does need to be shrank a lil bit, but no where near the amount where you should be worried about damaging anyhting. very easy.

Thanks Snappy! If I have 20% on the top part of the hatch window, should I ask him to use 35% on the lower part, since that glass itself appears to be somewhat dark already?

i know it has a lil tint to it already, but it were me, i would just stick with the same shade that was applied to the rest of the car. it will be a lil darker, but at least theres not way it will be lighter.

yea i figured it could probably be done with out shrinking, but i just "snapped" it after the plotter cut it. but i just know from experience in the past of what it takes so this person would be pointed in the right way.

It won't be that noticeably different. Tell him not to heat it on the outside, just cut it and put it on the inside. There may be one or two fingers that pop up, but nothing thats a big deal to take care of.

I do them all the time with no problems. Got one on Monday. I agree, if you don't tint that underspoiler glass it'll lood almost clear from inside.

i've never tinted one. but the legal limit here is 30% anyway, so not tinting it means it matches when i'm done.

We hardly ever tint that one window but haven't had to shrink the ones I have done. Love Prius' though, I have yet to tint a Prius with anything but Ceramic. Puts a smile on my face when a Prius pulls up.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
