CARBON FIBRE VINYL (CFV)

Custom Search

Nik Sandars@Bonwyke
I am getting more and more requests to source a good carbon fibre (CF) look-a-like vinyl... that easily conforms to very curved and even riveted surfaces...

Is this something you have been asked for..is there a growing trend to wrap bonnets(hoods);roofs and even dashes with good CF look-a-like vinyl?

I have souced some...it's not printed; it actually have a weave textured look...guys let me know what you think?

Right i have the samples and i must say its a good looking product. The only thing if im honest, is the price, its more than i would have thought. If you havent used this to wrap bonnets or roofs etc, it could be a bit costly if you waste an amount until you learn how the film handles and what you can do with it. For example my car bonnet would cost me in materials alone over £70 which is a fair amount if you need a couple of attempts to get the feel for the stuff. When your doing windows even when you first start, yes you destroy a piece of film but its only a fraction of the overall cost of the tint job, we kknow the film is very cheap compaired to what we charge. Even if you get the carbon film down first time adding the amount for your time and skill to charge the customer its works out kind of pricey, to some customers. Yes i know its cheaper than a full carbon bonnet but the "mass market" may be put off by the price. Just my first thoughts............ i DO LIKE the product!!!

Fair comments Shadow....some say there if theres no pain then theres no gain..that if you dont invest you can forget the rest..but when you consider that a bonnet is £600 in real carbon fibre on average you can supply a bonnet to a customer for half that and make a good mark up.

So what is a better answer..well Carbon fibre is a cast vinyl...you may want to buy a basic budget price cast vinyl for as little as £3 per linear metre, practice using this on you car, just so you can get use to handling and using large sheets of sticky flimsy vinyl...remember how you felt installing your first back window..then once you have mastered this, switch to the carbon fibre vinyl. This should be even easier now as this baby has glue channels to allow you to install it dry and smooth out the air pockets without creasing...sounds too easy..nothing is without practice..which brings me back to no pain no gain....

You will be a master Shadow one day i can feel it in my bones!!!!

Again Nick all fair comments. I think were spoilt on the cost of window film, and i fully agree that the cost of the material is a fraction of the real product, and it DOES look good very nice weave!

Right ive had a play with this stuff, did some outer bits on the car fairly flat no worries. Then i took off one of the front suspension covers off my bonnet, quite curved and had a go at that, what can i say this stuff is pretty special, if it gets creased pull the vinyl back off and pull. Its a bit like a lift and pull method window tinting and it works well, i will try to get some pictures up later. beer.gif

Im liking this stuff, a great weave look

Im impressed this vinyl looks really really good, was it hard to hide the edges on the bonnet vent? Also Nik could I possibly get some prices and a sample. cheers.

Righ Sean, the things on the bonnet are quite "vents" they are there to allow room for the top of the front suspension turrets. So they unbolt from underneath and can be removed from the bonnet completley, so the vinyl can be pulled around the bottom lip, but its impressive how "stretchy" this stuff is!!
b7adh
Nik, i never recieved any of the samples. This stuff should sell like hot cakes

well, carbon look a like films is the topseller here in Germany (for more than 3 years already).
But the "real" carbon look films are still pretty new - the "old" ones are "just" digital printed.

it´s available in several colours black, silver, white...

just some pics

Shadowline Can you try to apply some PPF over the top of this film and post a pick of it??? as then it may appear to look more like what Jeff is thinking. As I am not sure if the film you are showing on here has too much of a texture to it as It may appear not to smooth with PPF over the top of the carbon fiber film you are showing.. dunno.gif

100% yes. We deal with NATURAL CARBON FIBER and also KEVLAR, TVARON and other such kind fibers. Look similar

now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
