LLUMAR White Box film

My mentor and buisness partner was in a serious motorcycle wreck that nearly killed him. Long story short...car that caused the wreck had no insurance, and Larry has 0 health insurance or medical coverage on his bike. This formula = $crewed!
I hit Chris up from LLUMAR, because I'm donating all of my tint work for a month to help him out...so obviously I dropped prices tremendously and needed a less expensive film. LLUMAR has a "white box" film I purchased for this. It's not too bad to work with. It's obviously not the same quality as ATR/ATC...but for what I'm using it for it's good.
-Shrinks well -Thin, but plyable -Dries out decent.
Overall, for what you'd buy it for...it's pretty good. Especially for a charity job. I still wound up using my good stuff on quality rides...just upsold the price to balance out. But for a beater, or dealers that move them off the lot as quick as they can, and don't like paying for it...satisfying.
Just thought I'd share.

Correct, it is NOT the jet series. I thought about buying the jet series, but opted for this one because it's better in the ways I wanted...when, and I say when it turns purple...it's less noticable.

plain box, no Llumar name is evan applied to this film. It has a three year warranty if I remember right. Very inexpensive, but not marketed as a Llumar film. I learned about it at the St. Louis meeting they had.

And what's the reason keep name in secret? I know that white boxes are used for those who want to sell under own labels....So this is same case?

So, I went ahead and got a 36" roll of 40% (They don't have a 30 or 35%) to try it out. I will say it IS VERY THIN. 1 mil Construction, Extruded Poly (as opposed to their ATC which starts out with Clear Poly and then their color stable dye is applied). I found out from Chris at Performance Films that it is made the exact same way all other "color-stable" films are made (with the exception of ATC/AT) According to Chris, "all other color stable film is extruded poly" first, then a layer of dye is applied to it. When the dye goes bad the extruded poly camouflages it to appear as though it has not turned purple. The end result is a film all other manus are calling "color-stable". Now CP is selling what everyone else is selling. The benefit to CP Films new "Basic Black" film (it now has a name) is they use the same adhesive and dyes as their ATC/AT line but it is with an extruded poly which they can produce cheaper, thus passing the savings on to the rest of us(apparently clear poly is way more expensive than extruded grey or charcoal). They lower their liability by giving it a 3 year warranty and again that lowers the price for us. Supposed to shrink like hot butter melts too. Disadvantages - It s a VERY thin film. But with practice you can work with it. It also is not available in 30/35%. Will install on some cars and get back to you with results.

Started to use this on a 2002 Ford Focus 4 dr today when I realized the customer wanted a bronze film on it instead. So after installing the Basic Black on the front driver door I peeled it off and hand cut (I am addicted to my plotter) Johnson's Bronze 38 on the whole car. The one window I did went on fine for a thin film. I can't wait to do a whole car though. This stuff is like using rice paper after using 1.2 and 1.5 mil films forever. Reminds me a little of SG Supreme 40. The 40% (closest thing to 35 they have in this stuff) is almost too light for my taste. (edit done for spelling issues - I typed a little too fast)

This is all correct about basic black but the i didn't trust it to hold up for the 3 years they say it will. plus my guy at perf says the real reason it is so cheap and the waar. is minimal is because they do not want this film to effect the sales of the ATC and the have a surpluse of that old poly.
Its the same thing i am seeing at various dealers(former employer). Offering very old discontinued products(anyone remember profilon 150 form martin?) that have been on the shelf for as long as 16 years at cheaper rates to prevent ordering new stuff which is what the customer really wants. Thats what CP is doing as well.
Beware, i declined this opportunity I stick whith the ATC or the Black lava is ok too.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
