CHP Tint ticket mailed to me.

Hi all, recently was pulled for moving violation. Signed the citation for the speeding given
to me by chp officer. Was let go after signing, without anything else mentioned. Day after
I get a tint ticket in the mail and a courtesy notice without my signature from same officer
that pulled me for speeding.

I was told this will not hold in court, without the defendants signature on the ticket. And without
the cop mentioning anything regarding the tints or measuring it.

What do you all think?

Thanks!

I would imagine the window would have to be metered for anything to hold up, but I have a hard time believing you received a random ticket in the mail.

Same here

If he didnt put a meter on it the ticket can be fought. How much are the tint tickets up there
Jli801
No he pulled me over for speeding but without mentioning anything about the tints I signed or the speedig ticket as he requested. He then let me go, but he mailed me a tint ticket through the court with a courtesy notice. Not sure but 25$ fix it and 168 bail.

The ticket came next day with owners responsibility written in the sig box on the ticket. It is issued by same officer that pulled me for speeding.

how dark is the film on your front roll ups?
nctinter
I don't know about Cali but in Florida that shiot wouldn't fly. They HAVE to meter it for them to give you a ticket. I have been pulled over before and the cop told me if he had a meter he would give me a ticket but since he didn't then it would be !llegal for him to do so. So I think this is a complete bs ticket. I would go to court. If your windows are indeed !llegal, I would maybe strip it when you go to court or don't drive the car just in case they do want to go meter it. That has happened to me as well.

That is like a cop pulling you over and saying that you looked like you were speeding but I don't have a radar gun. Don't matter here is a ticket. No friggen way that will hold up

i cant incriminate myself on this forum can i? lol. it was bright out and was 35%
tint123
Rip it off and put 80% on the windows. Take the car and pics to Court.
"Judge, this flim is what I have on the car, and sure looks legal to me. Is there a meter availabe to check the darkness?"
darrin1
jeez, i don't like !llegal film but the cop has to put a meter on it to know for sure. film looks darker sometimes, depending on cloudy days, car interior color, etc.

This definitely is state specific. I recommend checking your state codes to get the details. Where I am located, there are percentages associated with tint levels, however a caveat allows officer descretion. Meaning, if the officer can articulate that he/she was unable to see the occupants of the vehicle, your tint is too dark, regardless of the 40% listed on the books.

good point. i didn't know that. my fronts meter at 34% but can look darker with cloudy days.

CA is 70% so I think an officer can see without a meter the film is too dark
tuttle
getting speeding tickets are bad enough.
then tacking on the a tint ticket, gets very expensive.

rule of thumb, when the cop pulls me over,
must be curtieous and roll my window down for the officer.
so being sad, get both of your front door window's down,
before or imediatly after u have stopped your car.
the officer my not be able to see any outher problems.

i've been tinting for 20 yr's now, and yes my first truck was tinted legal,
was never happy with 30%. not dark enough.
we all know that the limo tint will get us pulled over within a month, if not sooner.
florida will give u a warning ticket, must comply and get it fixed, or pay the fine,
or maybe get your licence revolked.
ive been tinting my cars and trucks for the past 18 yrs with 20%,
two yrs ago i took it farther, and know i have 6" sun bands with 20%,
at the top of my front doors, and much better at 10%.
florida say's a 6" windsheald sun band, have been running an 8' band,
and helps blend the door sun bands
tuttle
by the way i did receve 1 tint ticket for a 8" limo sun band,
fixed the prob.
took my truck to the cop shop and got a thumb's up.
pulled it in the shop the nexed day
50% full wind sheald and a 8" limo sun band.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
