the outer edge hangs over the top edge of a rolldown. blade is held in the unit and sits on the film and slides across the top edge to even up a jacked up cut.

These tools do exactly as stated above. They were very popular about 5-7 years ago, but they do not sell in large quantities any longer. If you have been tinting for awhile, you will likely never use it. Not that expensive though if you wanted to give it a try.
Straight blade and a slow steady hand, and you'll never need this.

The primary design of the tool was to run the longer edge across the top of a roll down window and the inserted blade would cut a 1/8" microedge at the top of the window. Most experienced tinters have learned to have excess film hanging over the top edge and just run their knife along the top edge to make that cuts. Then you just bump the film down 1/16"-1/8" to make your microedge. Some people could actually use it to fix a small area of jagged edge of an already cut microedge, but that was not the reason the tool was created. As I mentioned, most tinters that have been installing for awhile would never use this tool, but many starting installers like it because you can get a decent microedge from using it. Maybe this should be a tool that I do one of the demo videos on the zoladist.com website.
those things are worthless
I think you'd only end up jacking up the corners of the film where that gadget couldn't reach anyway..
QUOTE (blade @ Jul 22 2009, 11:04 AM) [*]704740[/*] those things are worthless I actually agree quite a bit with this statement. They are geared for a newbie, but are still not easy to use properly. You tend to figure out how to use it properly when you get more experience, and by then you no longer need it. I guess the reason all the tools suppliers still carry it, Zola Distributing included, is because it has always been a tool that people seemed to want.
With a small modification it would work better

I myself wouldn't waste 11 buck on that thing...if you cant get a straight edge cutting along the top of the window..you shouldn't be tinting...period...but what do i know.

I figured it was something like that. I have no problems cutting straight edges...so I won't be buying on! Thanks for the input guys.
