HELP!!! I took my 2003 Buick Park Ave to get the windows tinted and I really wasn't satisfied. The windows had contamination and air pockets everywhere. I took it back to have him fix the problems, but it seems as though he can't handle the back window for some reason. Here are some pics of my rear window after being parked out in the 80+ degree sun for two days. Let me know what you think. I will be taking it back again.

looks like he didnt use steal wool on the back window to knock down the fat defroster lines. that is what causes the big air line on the top and bottom of each line. it almost looks as if he did use steal wool in some spots but not other. if he did use it, he was consistant with it all the way across. the 3rd and last picture is that happens when the installer used heat to make the film stick. that will look better as the days goes by, but not completely go away. the 4th pic is some of the tape line left behind from the temp tag that was in the back window at one point.
basically the installer didnt take his time in prepping the glass properly b4 installation. it doesnt look like theres much dirt in the window, so he did do a clean job, but he should have spent a lil more time inspecting the glass, and scrubbing then lines with the steal wool. i sometimes spend 20 minutes just in the back seat of a car just cleaning and making sure the the film will lay down properly. its all about perparation to get the proper outcome. Sure it could be better than what it is, but i've seen much worse...Steel wool would've definately helped on those lines.
thick defrosters are thick defrosters.
I'm also pissed about the clear line that I see in my back window from the inside. Its like he tried to put two pieces of tint together, but they didn't lineup.
i really cant make out what the is in this pic. it looks like more of a scratch that a seam. if it is a seam, you have gone to the wrong shop. a pro should be able to do every back window in one peice. there mat be 2 exceptions, but your car is not one of them. this is an easy, small back glass. 2 piecing is not an option.
Thats the sunlight that I see when looking out the back window.
you need to quit yelling in your posts. a normal size non-bold font works just fine. yelling isn't gonna get your back window fixed.

well, that seam in the middle is good enough reason to bring it back and get it done again, but chances are that he wont be able to do that, if i could, he would have.
this looks like the work of beginner, or a hack. From what I can see.....the tinter was in the battlezone. The car had tint on it befor. This was a R&R ( remove and replace )
In some of thoes pictures, what you are seeing is old adhesive. Old adhesive from the old tint. Looks to me like the tinter worked on that backglass , to get the fingers off the defrosters.
Did you shop around at a few tint shops before picking this one

It is an 03. It was tinted befor and maybe removed befor trade in. For sure adhesive on the glass. I think your right Snappy....looks like temp tag tape ... Either way whoever tinted this car............looks to me like they did not prep the glass.
i got an idea, lets try to guess what kind of film it is. i say its johnson SP 5%.
Just curious, how much did you pay for this work? Did the shop seem somewhat professional?
Dude, it's an 03 Buick. I have done a fair share of those and can tell you that those defrosters will look like that. I clean with steel wool and still have that. The one pic is a bad end to the seam line. I don't know why anyone would need to 2 piece that window, but some do what they have to do.
The contamination "line" looks like an old sticker or something that was missed. How clean is the car OVERALL? Anyway....if you aren't happy then go complain again. Did they redo the window once? Or just blow you off? The defroster lines will lay down a bit better when they are totally dry. Believe it or not, but you might still have some moisture in there that will hold the film....just give it some more time and press it out with your finger.... I think the tinter cut the film along the defroster, to get the fingers to lay down. It's not a 2peece.
