Sub-contracting for a glass shop

O.k. here is the skinny. My local glass shop contacts me about tinting a houseboat at the marina (about 10 mins from my shop). He faxes me over the measurements and I shoot him a price.
2 days later I get the o.k. to pull the trigger, and order the film. I set the appointment up for Friday ( I figured Friday at the lake & getting paid for it is a good thing).
Friday comes and I show up at the marina and locate the lady in charge. She proceeds to take me out to the houseboat that needs tinted, and when she points is out I literally said "You have got to be shitting me!" This thing was a dinosaur. Screens had to be cut out as they were glued in place, and when the glass guy measured he didnt take into consideration the windows that open should be counted as 2 not 1 unit.
I went prepared to tint 15 windows and it turned out to be closer to 30. After prepping windows for what feels like forever (Bladed twice and scrubbed) I proceeded to start the job. Got three windows deep and found a cracked glass. Informed said owner about the crack, and she says "Just tint over it." I reply "Are you sure?" She gives me the go ahead and I proceed.
Two windows later I came across one that had a small caliber bullet hole in it. Same response "Just tint over it." O.k. whatever. Get the job finished and tell her I will be back on Monday to take care of any fingers that may appear.
Monday comes and I show up as scheduled, and immeidatly she starts complaining about contamination. I am like, o.k. just tint over the bullet hole, but cry about a little dirt on windows that hadnt been cleaned in decades. This thing seriously could have been the fabled Ark. Well I get her somewhat satisfied and she gives me the o.k. to order film to tint the rest of the marina (cha-ching).
Tuesday I go by the glass shop and pick up a check. He asked me if the lady was happy, and I told him I did what I could with what I had to work with. Well long story short (I know too late) she is holding the check on his end because she still isnt happy. Through general conversation with the customer, I find out that the glass shop has tacked on almost $700 on top of what I charged. I offered the guy 10% of whatever jobs he landed for me, but I guess that wasnt enough.
What would you guys do? I am kinda pissed that he was going to take that 10% along with the $700 he put on top, but this guy does send me some big fg work. I am generally perplexed. Sorry about spelling.

never quote a boat unless you've been inside of it looking around, flipping latches, making sure screens open, etc...

oh well you learned on that one. you need a new agreement on the rest of the jobs you do. you cant take any of his $700 cuz you never talked about him upcharging. you quote how much u will charge him and thats it, he can feel free to charge whatever he wants.

Youre probably right, I may have passed on it and still could have without taking too much of a loss. In todays world I find it hard to pass on any job, but this one may have been the exception.

I love doing boats but never ever take someones word, you can run into so many problems that the general public doesn't realize that one job will put you under water for a week, ( no pun intended)..

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
