Factory Windshield Tint

I see reflective purple windshields on a lot of late model GM vehicles (early 90's Impalas, Pontiac Trans Sports, Lumina vans, Astro vans). It's a really light shade, almost as if it were a 75 percent tint. It's really effective for privacy even though it is barely tinted. Does anyone have any info on this at all?

I believe most of that was in the manufacturing of the glass itself. It does meter around 75 vlt though.

It looks much darker to me.... especially on the 7 series BMW's.

If the forward sides are done at 20% it is sometimes hard to see the passengers at certain angles...

alot of them the reflection off the glass is more intense than others, but I still doubt any have a less than 50% vlt
