Full Version: Johnson Silhoutte auto film
how many of you guys used this stuff? im thinking of switching to johnson exclusively for automotive, i use them for flat glass too so i might as well keep it al lthe same. silhoutte looks good, the greystone also but seems a bit shiny??
try the marathon....it's some nice shiat. it's a dye-metal hybrid like silhouette. the new stuff though. so for i've gone through 2 rolls of the MN30 and like it alot. i think my favorite is still the greystone though. i like how thick it is. and i personally don't think it's shiny at all.
Marathon is a good looking film and easy to work with too. Price is very good too. A good Hybrid film for the money!

A good Hybrid film for the money! agreed.. marathon is a kick ass film and the price is good too. I used to use greystone but I started using solar free diamond black, its their 1.5 mil (2ply) non-reflective UV film and its a lot cheaper than greystone. But as far as metalized film, marathon is top dog in my book and madico's onyx comes second. I definitly recommend marathon.
marathon??
as blade said , Marathon is a nice film ! i usually use suntek carbon but ive used marathon on a few cars now and it installs real nice and looks great !
silhouette is also good but i find it a little too reflective, i put sil15 on my side windows of my toyota pickup looks good but bit reflective for what i like. marathon has a similar look only less reflectivity. i have used greystone before its good to work with too but my fav Marathon ! when they launched marathon here in australia the USA reps showed us pics of the pres of johnsons own car and his daughters car both with marathon installed, apparently its been on his car 2 years. grab a roll and try it out, you won't regret it ! I used Sil. for a while, liked the price, just didnt like the different VLT's looking like they came from a different line. Place Sil.35 beside Sil.15 and see what you get. Looks like two different film lines, not just different VLT. Hard to do a car here when the state law is 35/15 and the car looks like it has two different brands on it.
I really johnsons marketing stuf for auto and flat glass. im getting a sample roll of marathon this week cant wait to try it out.

I also use the Marathon line....love it!! No problems with shrinking or matching factory tint. NICE price too!! So far gone through 2 boxes of 20 and working on a 35. And they support you very well...I used to use "another" tint dist. around here and its like pulling teeth to get even a stinkin poster!! Johnson sent me a whole butload of free stuff: posters, samples, flat glass sample book, warranty brochures, a bunch of usefull information...

johnson is nice but they have had some issues with some metalized films in past. the marathon is the second generation siloette. nice film and good $$
I always have thought that johnson has some the easiest auto films to work with. Greystone is a nice way to go if you want to use a non metalized film
Great films to work with IMO.
Just ordered a Box of Marathon. Its great. Matches factory tinted glass very well. I just installed some MN20 on a 2007 Dodge Ram front roll ups, looks spectacular!
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
