Full Version: Solar Gard
I get these emails about overstock from Brian Metcalf at Bekaert aka solar gard. Figured the price is right on some of the overstock stuff so I was wondering has anyone bought from him? Just can't seem to find his info on here and I just wanted to make sure that I am not getting duped.
Brian is legit
Cool just wanted to make sure. I hit them months back but never ordered from them till today and I hate giving out my info to someone I have not ordered from just don't want to get messed over. Better safe than sorry.
I hear ya
Just vouch for Limo Tint Larry if I need it
Who the heck is Brian Metcalf? Is it a relation to Dave?

Thanks guys I figured its the best way to get some stock started up and allowed me to get more VLTs to start also. All I can say so far is that they are very responsive and got my order processed quickly Big Props so far.

All I can say so far is that they are very responsive and got my order processed quickly Big Props so far. it seems like lately the only time I order from SG its off their overstock lists. Compared to the other companies I use, their prices are just too outrageous to bother to use. My customers don't care what brand of film it is, they just want a dyed lifetime film. They don't care about chip dyed or 1 mil or HR, they just want price. that being said, you can get some crazy deals off the overstock.
LOL I ordered because of the price.
I have ordered it. Great stuff with some good prices sometime.
QUOTE ...and film look red when looking through from one side to other That is a caracteristic of glue dyed film... Care to give more details on this?
I could not care less about the warranty on a discounted roll.
my last over stock order was 32 rolls

Their HP True Smoke line is re-boxed film for sure... i never liked solar gard's automotive line because I know some of them are imported overseas film, however their comm/residential lines are (of course) manufactured here in the states by baekart.
We used to make a film called True Grey but no True Smoke

nr smoke and hp smoke is from solargard true smoke is from express

I'm guessing the post above about our films was regarding HP True Grey and I am pretty confident that was all in house, that was one of our flagship films for many many years. QUOTE (Limo Tint Larry @ Aug 9 2009, 10:52 PM) [*]709102[/*] We used to make a film called True Grey but no True Smoke My mistake... Yes i think it was True Grey, but what i'm positive was that it was the cheapest film line out of all the solargard automotive films and I know for sure it was not manufactured by baekart.
What makes you so sure?
QUOTE (Limo Tint Larry @ Aug 10 2009, 10:27 AM) [*]709158[/*] What makes you so sure? it definately wasn't the cheapest QUOTE (scottydosnntkno @ Aug 10 2009, 12:33 PM) [*]709159[/*] QUOTE (Limo Tint Larry @ Aug 10 2009, 10:27 AM) [*]709158[/*] What makes you so sure? it definately wasn't the cheapest then i've got it wrong all together then... i'm referring to the cheapest automotive film line from solar gard (i dont remember the exact name).
I can't speak for much beyond last Sept when I hired in but our product lineup would go something like this for Auto films.
NR Smoke, NR Charcoal, HP Smoke, NR Supreme, HP Charcoal, HP Supreme, Quantum & Ultra Performance
sup larry lemme get that overstock list...
QUOTE (VIP tint + glass @ Aug 10 2009, 11:38 AM) [*]709169[/*] sup larry lemme get that overstock list... no prob bob QUOTE (Limo Tint Larry @ Aug 10 2009, 12:27 PM) [*]709158[/*] What makes you so sure? Larry, quick question.... NR Smoke Plus, is this a glue-dyed constructed film? I noticed that when companies describe a film as "economical", it usually means that its a glue-dyed film.
I'll find out from tech services for you. I think Howard from EWF posted a way to know for sure on a film like this. I believe it was a rag with acetone on the glue side and see if it wears clear thus showing color in the adhesive.
I'm on it.
seven or eight years ago my old boss bought 40 to 50 grand of solar guard film and some was okay but most had glue problems. he had hp, true grey, nr, and I think titanium. Titanium was the best out of the group but the others sucked. I have heard of issues with the supreme from my bro in so cal. I Tinted my wifes parents car with HP and if faded in less than three years. I dont like putting film on friends and familys cars and home and having it go to
I can tell you for sure that Supreme is working well out in Socal. I have seen HP Char fail and NR Smoke is a five year film... in Socal that should be self explanitory in terms of longevity. I have 100% faith in Supreme and I'm a picky bastard.

i've been ordering nr charcoal lately and i love it so far. been using for a couple of months and no issues yet. shrinks good and looks great imo. great color. however, should i be using supreme? haven't heard of the overstock before. could someone tell me more about it. i love to save money.

The referenced test is only to detect color in the mounting adhesive. -Howard QUOTE (Limo Tint Larry @ Aug 12 2009, 12:25 AM) [*]709548[/*] I can tell you for sure that Supreme is working well out in Socal.
