Huper Optik C40 or ESC 45?

Hey Guys... New to the forum...Not in the business but got burnt up pretty bad with a recent Suntek ULVDS 40 install gone awry. 404 square feet....51 panes. Having said that...Hired a new IWFA certified contractor and am trying to decide between ESC45 or the Ceramic 40. Being quoted the same for either film and since the C40 is a double layer-do you guys recommend that over the ESC45? Is thicker better with HO? Durability is an issue.
Oh...I've Simonton double pane Low E Argon filled windows. Thanks for your expertise in answering this newb question. Regards...Greg

Ceramic 40 will be a lot less reflective than the ESC 45. ESC is a Huper Ceramic Film it is the single ply version which is more reflective. HO ceramic is super durable... the ceramic has been tried and tested in industry for decades, inert material that will not corrode, contains no dyes, and has a lifetime residential and 15 yr commercial warranty. We sell a lot of C-40 and I'd go with that because of the lower reflectivity.

Thanks..VC!!
The HO rep told me that the reflectance was a "moot point" due to the reflectivity of the low E glass...Something about the ESC 45 being only a per cent or two higher.
I think either film would/will be fantastic-JC what film costs more as I think the C40 is 2x as thick(~) as the ESC45...
Since I am paying the same for either film..should I go with the C40? Oh....The Suntek ULDVS 40's reflectivity was 14 and C40 is 9.
Sorry to be repetitive-I'm only learning now as a result of having a second company come in and strip 400 sq off and put the HO back on.
This is where all the smart dudes are...so I come humbly and thankful for any advice I can receive.
Regards...Greg
P.S. Long to short...Is C40 more costly that ESC45-per square?

I don't know much on huper, but i'd go with V's advice since he's so big on huper he would know which is better. Im just curious what happened on the suntek? Was it looks or installation gone bad or what?

P.S. Long to short...Is C40 more costly that ESC45-per square? You said that the installing company bid both at the same price. I was just saying that C-40 typically costs a little more but without seeing the job I can't really comment much on price. Yes, the low E makes exterior reflectance a moot point but interior reflectance will be less with the C-40. That is important at night.

C40 it is...Thanks VC and Micro! The Suntek install was a complete fiasco. Windows were not cleaned/prepped; gaskets were cut off all windows; many windows were cut without perimeter gaps, multiple doors have clouded up; getting bubbling on several windows already; squeegee must have had a burr....17 windows have scratches on them. Seems as though, after reading Sunteks SOP for installation that half the steps required were skipped...VC's quote is very applicable... The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the cheap price is forgotten. The guy was a new Suntek dealer so I got the ULVDS 40 done at a 5 per square-that should have set flags and buzzers off. I got what I paid for. Thanks so much for your advice guys-C40 it is! Regards...Greg

A lot of time the film is not at fault, it is the company that installs or rather, try to install it at discount prices which makes them have to rush the job and then problems ensue... Hey, make sure they fix your gaskets. I'm not sure how much they cut off but you need some gasket to hold your glass in.

I like the ESC and use it a lot as a lot of people seem to like the extra privacy the ESC provides and the little extra heat rejection. I'll tell you that ESC35 and 45 you can see out at night with out an issue. That being said, C40 is easier to see out and in by a little and is more in cost then ESC45. C40 is an amazing film, its crazy but the C50 which is lighter, you cannot tell its any darker tehn the window not filmed next to it, but the VIEW is ENHANCED significantly !! C-40 is the same. If it were my choice, I would only base my decision on if you want a little added daytime privacy, if that's not a concern, go for the C40

and to correct you...the reflectivity of the ultra 40 is 10 interior and 11 exterior..the SOLAR reflectance is 14

Yes...my installer(Huper Optic) is IWFA certified.
And the film is NFRC certified. Wow..I got educated after I got burned. God forbid a client knows a few acronyms.
And I'm from the IRS cause you guys are using this forum as a cover for a huge "kind bud" selling biz.
LOL...You guys R 2 funny.

i take it others cant leave it alone and continue to whine about things.

now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
