Could this be the worst back window ever???

Just got back from attempting to do what I think is probably the worst back window ever!! Nissan vanette ( serena ) single back window on a 'Y' reg. No dot matrix and inner gasket wall is smaller than the outer gasket which means you have to take the glass out. Once on a table, the flamin thing looks like a dish from the inside looking out. Horrendous to shrink, tight on top and bottom corners and I struggled like hell. Took 3 attempts and in the end I gave up, something I've only done once before. Has anybody else attempted this window and how did they get on??? Can it be done? Any tips? I did an 03 Renault Clio last friday and it took me 35 minutes to shrink and install the back window so I class myself as reasonably good tinter but this thing stumped me today. Any advice would be greatly appreciated or other horror stories involving this window to make me feel better. There's nothing worse than telling a customer you can't do it or it can't be done, you look bloody stupid and it's flippin frustrating.

Is it this one? I'd try the lift/pull method.

Did three of them (nissan Vannette) for a catering company about eight years ago. In reflective silver film - I remember them being a pig to do but thought it was mainly becasue - although very curved - we were using silver 15. I'll see if I can dig out some pics - I think we ended up doing them in two or three pieces in the end. Have done one in tint (serena)- which was tricky but I've seen far worse - porsche 944. But saying that you can never give up - the professional tinter always finds a way

that serena looks like its good fun, just like the older previa/lucida/eminas? i did a toyota hiace lwb camper the other week, (similar window) i masked off the rubber inside and about 1/4" on the glass and just painted a matrix in with some one shot pinstriping enamel, while it dried i shrunk the film then layed it down, it was a 5% limo black, i did remove all the sliding side windows, came out nice and the customer a i was happy this fiesta i removed the glass from car as there was no matrix and there was plenty of filth in the rubber, it came out clean and only took about half hour including removal/and re-installation of glass

To be honest I struggled with a tinting film despite 3 attempts and did give up. Then remembered I had some limo static film ( the plastic type film that sticks by static) and used that. If that doesn't go nothing will but I gave it a try and managed to do it. Because it was an owner of a bodyshop that does recommend me to the public I didn't charge him. Out of pocket for the time and wasted film but I did get a film on the glass and he seemed happy enough. Like you say tintim, the professional tinter finds away Nice job on the camper blanco, looks smart. Just need to find away of doing it with the tint first time, I was well cheesed off at the time.

...like Tim said, you dont know hurt until you have the 944, that make you almost cry....
As for the Nissan, they are tricky and if your only shrinking wet your going to find it almost impossible so try the soap methord, i use dyer sheets and there still a right barstewrd but can be done in on e hit, now if that still dosent work just do it in to halfs by splicing it and make the join 2/3rds up from the bottom to make it easy for your self....

I've done one and will keep it to that because its enough to give you a breakdown! Eventually managed in the 3 pieces after scrubbing the hell out of the rubbers.
Kept water to a minimum to stop contamination seeping in but owner wasn't bothered, he was using it as a work mule.
I found it tougher than the VW MKV, Clio phase 2 and those silly Lucida/ Estima things but mind you had a Lucida in today on a X plate that had a proper dot matrix!

I dont do an "H" pattern on PT's...just the horizontal anchor. Let the sides hang so I can pull it.

I have only done one a couple of years ago, a remember fighting it. I would lift and pull/soap shrink these days. I think you need a film that shrinks well on cars like that, llumar or suntek would work for me.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
