Patrick,
I know that Performance Tools sold the Hudson Handy Sprayers and when I asked about them last time they said they had nothing but headaches and returns.... Now I have to say that I really love mine and I just replaced my two sprayers last month. I had those puppies for 3 or 4 years! The only real issue I ever had with them was the plunger tube not sealing up to the top and letting it leak off slowly. I found the FIX for that though and it is very simple. Just add a few wraps of Teflon tape to the threads and it seals right up.

Add the brass fan tip and it is the best 2 liter compression sprayer IMO!

Now, I ask you if you would consider selling them??

I know from when I was at Performance that we did have issues with that particular sprayer, but some, like yourself had great luck. The issues with sprayers in general is that most of these are made for gardening or some other light duty use. Tinters in general are very hard on tools and most of the sprayers do not hold up well. I think that the Hudson sprayers were a good quality unit, but just not made to withstand the average tinter. That being said, I still know the VP of sales at Hudson well and if the demand were large enough I am sure that we could get them. For alternatives, the Poly 2 that everyone sells is the only one that seems to have stood the test of time. Although I wish they still made the old style Poly 2. That thing was awesome and I still have no idea why they changed something that was that good. wall.gif The Impact sprayer has also faired well, but it has not been out for long enough to see if they last 3-4 years as yours did. Those two units are the only ones that I think most tools suppliers are comfortable with right now. If you are not familiar, I have included links below:

2 Qt Poly 2 Sprayer

48 oz. Impact Sprayer

Let me know if you have any questions on either of these.

I have a Poly Sprayer that I got years ago.....use it when I need a sprayer around the house. Didn't like the plastic pump rod or the trigger....and then of course I am spoiled rotten with the fan tips.

I ordered my sprayers from Hudson this time. I originally bought them from Lowes but they stopped selling them. I got hooked up with Chris Welker and Performance Tools and got my next few.....

The old blue tops I would snap the tip if they got dropped, but the newer black top are just about indestructible. I dropped one from about 2 feet up on my last ones and it cracked part of it, but I was able to mend it with RTV silicone for a short time.... Just have to take care of tools.....

So it was that they broke too easy? Or was it the lack of sealing up and holding pressure? I know that Chris had said that they had more "claims" for them than it was worth...but that would indicate that it was not the way they held up but something out of the very start...

I know when I was handling the tools at Performance, we found the Hudson sprayers at a hardware show and thought they looked good. However, it turned out that most of the issues with that sprayer were present almost right out of the box. The black top that you mentioned was originally only on the Tek version and then they started using it on the Handy as well. I can post a novel here about how we tried to work with Hudson to make these better for our industry, but suffice to say that there were many issues. I wonder if Lowe's was having issues also and that is why they stopped carrying them. We need to convince Poly 2 to start making the old bottles again! I wish I had a better answer for you, but there seem to be issues with all the available bottles on the market.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
