Can some tell me the uses of Ceramic verses Metalized for BG on newer cars..
Aentena interference problems...
The "ceramics" aren't all ceramics, our Ultra Performance for example is considered Nano Technology. "Millions of microscopic nano particles that block near infrared heat that can allow visible light through" Thats the description for the UP75 which is optically clear, we obviously make darker shades that also block visible light too.
They offer high heat rejection without metal in the film that can cause interference with AM/FM, Tire pressure monitors, Blue tooth, Keyless entry, Navi etc... Many of the owners manuals in new cars strictly state not to use a metal (Hp) film on them for this reason. The idea behind "ceramic", nano technology etc.. is to offer high heat rejection films without the metal to allow the installer to upsell to a higher end film without worry of interference and comebacks. The plus being greater heat rejection than the non metal film you should otherwise be installing on these vehicles. Many shops still install HP films and claim no issues and in many cases this is true but you can and will run into issues and certain cars seem to be much more problematic than others. Madico, Llumar, F1, Solargard, and Johnson all offer these products although I've been told some have had interference issues with Insulir but this is not confirmed information. Some are more reflective than others they are all great products and I personally think a shop is nuts not to offer an upsell to a standard film.
Thanks for the informative info.. Much appreciated...!
aluminum oxide, any one know what this is?? Its what some ceramics are made of. so i was told by a nasa engineer custy of mine who researched the product. some things are just conductive. in fact most things are to a certain extent. metal isnt the only conductive material its just the most efficient. water is prety conductive its just H2O,

But there is a process that it has to go through to make it non conductive, so some ceramic films may not be safe either if the Aluminum oxide isn't processed. This is just what I was told, not my words.
Not sure exactly which but JWF and some others are made with Titanium Nitride
I dont understand why they bother even saying metalized versus ceramic (non metalized).
Ceramics are usually a metal ionically or covalently bonded to a non metal. Thus the crystal structure still contains a metal element. So why are they referred to as a non metal??? Ceramics are also usually non conductive and very brittle because they are not ductile. and Metal is conductive because the electrons in the metal bond form an electron cloud and they are not bonded to any one atom, thus they can freely move around. Conductive materials shield/block electromagnetic radiation (gamma rays, x-rays, visilble light, radio waves, microwaves, etc etc)
Titanium nitride is a metal. aluminum is an aloy that conducts, just very little. the power of the electrical sourse determains how far the currant will travel through less conductive material. I dont think films that have titanium nitride are conciderd 100% ceramic, just a metalized ceramic. can be a good combination though,
I tried Maddy's Mac out for cars and hated the look of the external reflectivity.
The end result in a 35%VLT is illegal for fitment to our vehicles because it increases the reflectivity of the glass by more than 10% so it got sent back and I believe it has been a fizzer ever since. Too expensive and not the right look. devil
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. © 1999 - 2009 Ric Wellman All Rights Reserved. Contact: tintdude[a]gmail.com | |||
