I know this is still a bit on the front edge of marketing, but I think it is fair to begin thinking how marketing formats like this may become the next "Yellow Pages". Give it a read and stay informed. The game is definitely changing.

Twitter Pro accounts are coming.

I was under the impression that Twitter was more for the younger crowd. The cell phone commercials seem to portray it that way.

There may come a day soon that you cant afford to ignore media like Twitter. Just look at how fast these things have already taken over traditional media. You cannot watch a newscast anymore without them giving out their Twitter information. Just some food for thought.

I would say that it started with a younger crowd, but it is rapidly becoming part of the mainstream media. Also, keep in mind that the "younger" crowd are your future customers. Do you think any of them even know what a phone book is anymore? dunno.gif

Some use it that way, but it can be used for productive things as well and it will only become more integrated into the fabric as time goes on.

Not as much as I would like. I may be wrong on this, but I am in touch with marketing people much smarter than I am that are advising me on this stuff. You know when Fortune 50 companies start having comprehensive Web 2.0 plans, it is coming out of the back rooms and into the mainstream.

Great point, but My Space was out-maneuvered by Facebook and FB is still a very powerful outlet. I do not think anyone is positive where this entire trend is going, but most want to make sure they do not miss the boat leaving the dock. Not as expensive to be wrong as it would be to be left behind.

The only reason I say that is I know alot of business'...and thier computers do not allow people or employees to acess facebook...twitter...myspace.... dunno.gif

I think that is definitely true for the employees, but I would bet in many of those companies that the marketing department has access. It will be interesting to see how the next 18-24 months play out. It wont take long because this stuff moves so fast anymore. Your example of My Space is a perfect example of how something that is at the top today can be yesterday's news just a few months later.

i guess it can't hurt for them to try something new, it can only help. from what i understand the only people that actually use twitter on any kind of regular basis are twits. Flaugh.gif

Your Facebook is linked into your sig dude and its letting us know about your business ($99 special) right now... how is that different?

When my shop was running I had the website, facebook and myspace... twitter hadn't hit just yet then.

So you searched my shop name the top three results were all linked directly to me. It leaves a lot less room for competitors to show up under you. That’s one plus right there.

You can survive without utilizing these tools but you can flourish if you utilize them properly with other marketing campaigns. Change is not evil, we don't know everything already it is okay to listen to ideas and see what happens. Facebook earned me so much business, myspace too.. I still get calls and messages to this day. It’s early and takes work to make it work for our business model but it is worthwhile in the long run. twocents.gif

I dont know much about twitter but give an example of how twitter would help a retail window tint business. I know with google you put in window tint and your town and a list comes out . How would someone use twitter to get a location or info on a tint shop? I got my website out late so dont want to miss out again on new tecnology .

Two key words. Twitter Search. People can search by key words just like with Google. Someone in your town can search window tint and see if anyone that tints has a Twitter account. If they are using Twitter, they will likely be pre-disposed to check you out if you are also active with that media. Also, you can use Twitter Search to see who in your area is posting about window tint. you would be amazed how many people are posting Tweets like: "I need to get my car windows tinted. I am burning up." and stuff like that. You then have the opportunity through Twitter to Direct Message that user that you can help them out with their tint needs. Just go to Twitter and search under window tint. I think you might be surprised what you find. Let me know if you have any questions as this is just scratching the surface of what you can do with Web 2.0 tools. beer.gif

I just started messing around with that Stan, so I cannot comment. I just think that people should at least start to be involved with the biggies like Facebook, Linked In and Twitter. Kind of like choosing to do business and not be in the phone book 25 years ago.

I use twitter throughout the day. I have found it to be useful in networking. We'll see if the $ follows.
