Full Version: The Titan

Booms2Go
So, I got My Titan last week, but I didn't want to evaluate it on looks alone. So, after using it for the better part of a week, here is My thoughts.

1) Construction is spot on. The blade being integrated into the body, instead of glued on is really nice. Shape is nice, and it feels good in Your hand.

2) Some people have complained that it is not stiff enough. In My opinion it is a tad too stiff. You really have to press hard to get it to bend to the contour of the window. The outcome of all this force is little fingers in each corner of the window, from it moving the film, instead of just pushing out water. When I use My bulldozer, and 12" white thingy, I usually dont have any fingers at all. I was hoping this tool would do the job of both the bulldozer and the white thingy but it doesnt. If all You leave is less than 1" of unsqueegeed water down at the bottom, it works ok. Any more than that.... nono.gif
3) Your film better be WET when using this tool. If You try to give one last good swipe on dry film, it WILL leave a rub mark on the film. This really needs to be looked into.

All in all, the Titan is a useable tool to ADD to Your toybox. It won't replace any one tool, its just another arrow in Your quiver. Out of a possible five thumbs up I give it....

Stroke DR is a must. Saves the top of your thumbs from getting all chaffed on deck lids and speaker covers, and you can apply much more pressure than a side swiper... thumb.gif thumb.gif thumb.gif thumb.gif

My issue with it is that it is not stiff enough to force out the water. The Stroke Doctor, and the Side Swiper are stiff enough to address this. Perhaps if Zola kept this tool and then offered another stiffer design then they might be on to something. I like the length, but the flimsiness makes it totally worthless. And I bought 3! mad3.gif

I am sorry that you feel that way. Contact me and maybe we can arrange to have the other 2 that you bought sent back and credited to a future order. I want people to be pleased with the items that they purchase from Zola Distributing, so please contact me and we can discuss a resolution. Thank you for the feedback on the tool. I have been hearing from some that love it and others that would like it to be stiffer. Looks like one of those tools that may just come down to a personal preference and technique thing. Many of the tools we sell are loved by 50% of the community and hated by the other 50%.

Thanks again for the order and let me know what I can do.

Best Regards,
blade

I havent tried it on tint. I grabbed one at a customers shop sprayed a back glass and played around with it to see how it moved water and like it. Kinda thought wow... and we had a swideswiper all this time for what reason??

Good to know it really works well.

Again... How about two choices ZOLA?

I would return the other 2 for one stiffer Titan. thumb.gif

That is certainly an option. It will take a bit of time to look at a stiffer material that allows the tool to flex enough to be usable. I think a second option is definitely a good idea, but it may take a bit of time to get that sorted out. I was just given you an option if you wanted to return them before we had another option available. Do not worry though, I am letting the appropriate people know that we need a stiffer option. biggthumpup.gif

I haven't gotten to use my Titan on an auto window yet, but had some commercial glass that was tucked behind a pillar yesterday...the Titan was far too flexible to make for a good squeegee.

I am in for the stiffer version!

I agree with everyone on the stroke dr. That's a great tool I haven't even
touched a side swiped
VIP tint + glass
Hot glue gun a bone tool to one side of the titan. You know the plastic popsicle stick.

Have you tried this, or are you just thinking that it may work? That certainly would stiffen the tool up, but then there would be no flex at all. It would also thicken the tool making it potentially too thick to fit behind 3rd brake lights. Thanks for the feedback. beer.gif

Ive tried titan for a few weeks now. I think it works great, I like the shape it wraps around your thumb and transfers more pressure to the blade and gets to those hard to reach rear decks and some door windows. The size is good, no more skin loss from carpet or speaker grills, nice! I see some of your complaints, and I hear titan is going to get a little thicker and I think it will work better, but if it gets to fat or stiff it wont get into the tighter areas or contour the glass as well. I find for larger areas to squeegee try making a few passes to get to the bottom of the glass from the center out, and this will help cut down on finger bubbles at the bottom and sides of glass. For dry passes those marks wipe off easy (no biggy) but try wrapping a paper towel around the blade and this will help dry excess water as well. Oh yah! Wish it was here seven layers of skin ago! thumb.gif thumb.gif thumb.gif

Don't know if there is a perfect tool in this industry, but this one is a good multipurpose one and could be close.
