Full Version: factory style tint
Hi Guys, newbie here with old questions....I've been restoring cars and in the body biz for 35 plus years and have often run into problems upgrading clear factory auto glass to oem green factory tint....as many older cars either did'nt offer tint or are obsolete and impossible to find or replace with reasonable cost replacement glass, I've looked alot but can't find the right colored oem style green tint to come close to duplicating a oem factory tint color....does anyone have any ideas or product knowlege on this....thanks now, cliff
so your looking for the glass that has the darker than normal green to it? Or a film to match it?
I think its LuLu(?) who makes a 35% green to match VW's. It would probably be a lot darker than your looking for, but its an option
if you are replacing some of the windows and are looking to match the other windows to the new ones......good luck!
I did a back glass for 1950ish chevy something and they had replaced all the side windows. That was some pretty dark green glass. The Llumar green 35 that Scotty mentioned was a pretty close match that glass when placed on the original rear window... Something as light as what most would call clear glass on modern vehicles is not something that I know of a film that would match at all.... sorry dude. That may well br feasible, I don't mnd a little darker just needs to look natural...not way out there, the olde 50's a/c cars were alittle darker than todays tints and thats fine, the current project is a 74 alfa gtv....glass all clear but will be removed for resto, I have'nt been able to find any glass or evidence that they used any tint on that model at all....Can you link yo pics so I can see?...thanks, cliff
I don't have any pictures, but I am sure someone will come along that has taken some....
the Llumar film will make clear glass look like some factory green VW glass....
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
