Full Version: Palmovlive orginal or j&J
Problem i am haveing with baby shampoo not geting the film to slide like i want and palmovlive causes to much mositure useing global QDP
Do not use Palmolive.
Why is that
Too much lotion and fillers in it plus I believe it contains a degreaser. Do you think any of that would be good for the adhesive?
True so you think i so just quiet useing palmolive and juse baby shampoo

Thanks man i appericate the info i will get some film on
use joy. like 99% of the tinters out there.
I'm baby shampoo all the way. Love the smell
Use a baby shampoo or Film On. If you need more slip, use a more concentrated solution. Both baby shampoo and Film On will not harm your adhesive. With any other product, you are taking your chances long term. Just remember, the more slip solution that you use, the longer the cure time will be. Just something to keep in mind if you like to use a bunch of slip solution.
20 years of using it and NO issues.................Lemon JOY. I don't consider that record 'taking my chances' at all. Never have I had an adhesive failure. Not one.

Never have I had an adhesive failure. Not one. I agree that there are many that have not had any issues using Joy, Palmolive, etc. My thoughts are based on some CPFilms studies that were done at least 5 years ago that tested all the main solutions for things like cure time, long term adhesion strength to the glass, etc. In those studies, Film On and baby shampoo proved to have faster cure times and the film had a higher adhesion strength to the glass after the curing period was complete. In addition, CPFilms always pushed the point that it makes no sense to use products with degreasers and hand softening lotions as a slip solution against the adhesive. I am not a product engineer, but that always made intuitive sense to me. I guess whatever works for you would be fine, but for the pennies per car, it does not make sense to use something that could potentially cause an issue.
i use a 50/50~ mixture of J&J and Joy.
ive used all of them. the best by far was suave baby shampoo, but they dont make it anymore. now use palmolive. IMHO palmolive is the most user friendly and you dont have to use a lot. youd be surprised at how little you actually use. and ive never had one issue to date. i hope i dont either. i understand the issues and why we should use film on. im a CP guy at heart and to me the stuff just doesnt give enough slip. its also very expensive unless you buy A LOT and bitch about it
J&J or Film On for me.
Nuttin' wrong with Non-Ultra Joy, Dollar Store Special!!
J&J for me
I know Im new to this place but I have tried Dawn and JOY and they just don't slip like J&J whish I had know that from the start.
I was taught by a tinter that used original dawn dish soap. I havent had any trouble from it as of right now. Slips great and tacks easily. I guess only time will tell
yeah , tru about polmolive origianl, but I now use the polmolive clear "green', an im loving it!! it has no harsh chemicals, no alchohol , its about as pure slip solution as you can get!! when I first seen it at wallysworld I read the label carefully and tried it.
Outside of that, I have always used reg dawn dish soap as "dirt off" and J&J baby shampoo as "film on"
j&j and film on is all i use! J&j for auto and film on for flat glass!
Joy!

I guess only time will tell Dawn is a degreaser/soap mix. We used to used it for anti-graffiti before AG adhesives were available. It made the film remove super easy.
