Full Version: Questions Please

Honest_Joe14
Hey Guys, I have just started tinting and I have been practising on my own car and I have a questions. Firstly the car is a 2002 Ford Falcon (Im from Australia - I couldnt edit my profile to list that)

1. On the rear door, what is the best way to cut the pattern out - When im doing left vertical cut, quiet a bit (1cm) or more of the window goes upto behind the gasket when rolled up completely.. It is not a straight edge and the window curves as it goes up... I thought about winding the window half down.. cut the top third of the pattern and roll all the way up and cut the bottom half? I tried this but i wasnt very successful.. This is all new to me but i want to use the correct technique now. ( I might have the correct idea but just havnt had enough practice at it yet.. I found i was wrecking the edges slightly as i was trying to get this working..

2. Im getting fingers on the bottom after the tint has been applied.. although when im cutting the pattern out.. no fingers are there and from what I can see it doesnt need to be shrunk at all.. (They are difficult to get out but take some work to get them out... What am i doing from here?

As i said im only new to this and i want to be sure my technique is correct so im not getting into bad habbits or incorrect procedure.

I hope I have worded the questions correctly to make sense.

Appreciate the Help

Hey mang, welcome to the forum beer.gif ....With a roll down cut the top edge (with the window rolled down a bit), roll it up cut one side move the film over, cut the second side, cut the bottom..Are you pulling panels? If not put a conquerer in the bottom wrap your hard card in a paper towel, and push the fingers out, if it doesn't have to be shrunk, it's probably a bit too wet and some water is sucking back in...good luck

Hey mate, thanks for your response..

Yeah i am obviously putting to much water underneath it.. i wrapped my conequrer in a microfibre towel and used that it helped but still took ages to work them out.. maybe the paper towel will absorb more moisture.. hmm

So basically your saying that roll the window down and cut the top bit of the curved section move film roll window up and cut the rest of that side.. then cut the other side.. the the bottom then the top?

I thought this was the way i just had trouble doing it and i thought it was a lack of experience..

Once again appreciate your help
