Full Version: the tint looks green?

Had 3M CS-35 put on a 2010 Ford fusion. At least I was sold CS. I saw the 3M watermarks before they were removed, that part is not an issue. The car did not have any tint to begin with.

There is a green hue looking from outside, as well as from the inside looking out.

The shop I got the job from is/was/i thought to be reputable, and I have no problem with the quality of the work. I just can't stand the green. It didn't occur to me to ask about a color neutral solution. I have a work truck with tinted windows, no green there. Couldn't tell you what brand it is, or what darkness. I look at other vehicles, not seeing this green.

I found a thread from a couple years ago. http://www.tintdude.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=35600

I'm about to have it all ripped out and go with nothing. Eat the cost if I have to. I don't like the green. Not sure how to fix this. Or if there is a way to fix this.

Have you guys seen this before? The factory glass had no color that I could see. Is this a Ford glass thing? Something else?

the color your seeing is coming from the film, ...i thought CS had a blue hue dunno.gif

Go back to the shop let them know in a very nice way that your unhappy with the color of the film see if they'll help you out.

Well if you saw the logos on the film then it is probably CS. The FX doesn't have logos. It shouldn't really have a greenish look to it. I wonder if the new Ford glass is different? I would say if it ws a GM you might see green glass.

I'm not planning to be an ass about it. Just bummed.

And it's green for sure. No idea if it's the glass or what. I'll go talk to them, see if there are any options. And the car is black/black, so nothing there.

If I decide to have it pulled off, do I need to worry about them wrecking the defroster lines? The film has only been on a couple days.

don't use dessert smoke from sun gard it looks green tooo

they gave me a sample roll won't use them for auto film cause of the green look

put it on 2 cars both looks green and rep said it does have a green look

VIP tint + glass
Are u 100% posative its 3m CS? I put it up all day and it has a blueish hue to it compared to most charcoal films. Its not ur ford glass either. Go back and have them cut a piece of 3M out of a 3M box and place it next to your window. If it doesn't look the same they switched films on u. There are films out there that have a heavy green to it. The ones I know of are solargard supreme and llumar atx.

i think with that light a tint your seeing the greenish tint from the original glass . If you look in the windshield and there is a green tone you will have to go with a darker charcoal film .
tint_audiopros
ahhhh post pics already

Heh, took some pictures yesterday. Camera didn't really pick it up. Will try again this afternoon.

VIP, I'm sure it's 3m. Can't say for sure about the CS. I saw the logos, see nctinter's comment.

Wife thinks I'm overreacting, well, maybe. But that doesn't make it less green! Flaugh.gif

I put Charcoal on my Son in LAws 01 Galant, has a greenish tinge to it, put some from the same roll on my Wifes 08 Sonata, and no greenish
tinge to it. Would have to be something with the glass, I guess it could be a good idea to slap a decent size chunck of scrap
film on a window first to avoid issues like this ?

bingo.gif i agree. I think that fords have the most factory green in their glass compared to a lot of the other companies. Usually not a big deal, just certain films pick it up a lot more than others. I would agree though that being a 35, its just picking up the factory color more. From what I've seen on here CS is very neutral with hardly any dyes in it dunno.gif so the color shouldn't be coming from the film

i know that the fusion i did with atr even had that same greem hue to it, only when it was added to the glass. the glass does have a stong green color to it. would think that the window could be rolled down to a point, that a peice of white paper could be placed on the top egde on the inside "if its not micro edged" its normal FOR SOME to have a 1/8 inch space on the top of the glass.. the paper would show then green color on clear glass from the opisite side looking threw the glass at the paper...

worth a try?

bingo.gif jeff. it's the glass.

Actually, it is just a case of Goldbloots !
Got that from an old Episode of I Love Lucy if anyone remembers that show.
Kokomo Tint and Dent
I say its the tint. I also say it's better to have a little green than a lot of purple. Leave it on!

CS looks a little green on any vehicle, 35% more than 20%.
Monique
A lighter film like 35 or 50 will show the true color of the glass more. Most domestics have more green in their glass. An easy check...hose down the windshield and the water will look green!

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
