Full Version: Glue smear marks

After applying the Llumar ATC range window film to the glass, squeegee the water out completley, hard card and heat the top edge sometimes there might be a little excess water remaining. I try to hard card the excess water and the glue starts to smear leaving white streaks. Previously whilst using Johnsons window film I was able to hard card the excess water, there would be smear marks but when the film completeley dried out the marks would disappear unlike the Llumar ATC range. I also find the Llumar ATC range doesn't seem to sit very well on rear screens. Is anyone else having these problems, if so is there a solution?

Suntek window film, is it any good and whats the best range for handling, shrinking and manipulating?

Thanks,

How are you meant to get rid of that excess water then??????
VIP tint + glass

mates
i get that with suntek a bit.

today on a nissan dualis hatch / suv i lined up the back glass put tailgate down to check for lightgaps cause of poor lighting in the workshop i was at then put it back up possibly 20 seconds later squeegeed the water out but in that time it seems some water had dried out and it left smear marks , not sure if they will go away , apart from the slight marks it looked great time will tell if they disapear or not. i only notice these marks with suntek (carbon) never ahd a problem with johnsons , although i really like suntek carbon's colour i think i might just solely use johnsons in the future.

but like you said sometimes happens to me too. im finding my gold card wrapped in paper towel to not push enough water out after blue max should i try a stiffer hard card if so what colour ?

The ATC is great film, its your method you need to look at.

The ATC is like suntec carbon, feels slightly thicker and has a bit of a tougher scratch coat. They are both good products.

When you say it does'nt sit very well on rear screens? do you mean the dot matrix or are you getting fingers poppping up?

If it's fingers, it's your technique for shrinking I would say - and ANY film that is not shrank correctly may cause problems.

if the water pockets r small leave them, the reason you r smearing the glue is b/c the film is too hot. i never liked llumar neway, its a good film but no thanx. hope this helps..

now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
