Full Version: Contactors license questions
Do you need a Contactors license for all jobs over $500 in California, including Automotive jobs? I heard you need a license for all jobs over $500. Can you confirm if that includes jobs on cars/RVs/ trailers that come to $500 or more? Or do window tinters only need a contactors license for commercial buildings and residential homes?

The Bureau of Automotive Repair considers it a non-power train "cosmetic" modification which requires no license.
Shops in Bakersfield and Santa Maria have been fined, even with those infamous waivers that state "it's a show car". But TINT-Terrorist can should you how not to get caught.
Yes it is for res and com only and I herd it was changed to $800
As I would tell everyone.....check with the state, don't believe all of what you get here. One of our local hacks from Mass. advertises here in CT with ServiceMagic. On his page it states "No State License Required". Could not be further from the truth. For all residential work, a HIP contractors registration is required. Call your local state DCP or Secretay of States office to find out.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
