What film is best for cutting down on glare?
I would think silver reflective 15, frost, or opaque vinyl...Which will cut out the most glare? Thanks for your help. QUOTE OPTICALLY-TUNED SOLAR-CONTROL FILM
FOR OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE You told us you wanted a window film for home or business applications that would make a difference without being noticed. A film that would cast a warm ambience, yet keep the surroundings cool, comfortable and glare free. A film that could help prevent furnishings from fading during the day, but with limited reflectance at night. We listened. At 72" wide, OptiTune, SolarZone’s™ line of dual-reflectance solar-control films, is ideal for both residential use and large commercial projects, and is available in 5%
without taking the view away(which opaque would do) the silver 15 i think would be best. if its white frost the glare actually feels worse, like looking at a bright flourescent light.

reducing light transmission reduces glare...
= Darker film = less glare
be careful with them dark films, which are best for glare, they usually have a higher heat absorbtion which can cause some major issues to your glass. that depends on which kind of glass you have, and what direction they face. too much exposure to the sun can cause glass to break, seals to break, windows to fog, and leave you wondering why. we would need to know what kind of glass you have, double insulated or single pane. that will narrow it down for us to really give you the best advise we can.
Bronze Frost
hanita's optitune 5 is nice stuff.
or some silver 15 could be a cost effective alternative.
I have some single pane windows to do, they want it blacked out. Has anyone had issues with using vinyl on the outside to do this? There is a platform on the inside covering the glass.

If you do not, most mannys will void the warranty.(little known fact)
The best film for glare is a blackout/whiteout..............now, for glare redustion with visibility through, many will work. I like the Aquity Outlook 07 (7% vlt) but remember, it is reflective.
Thanks !

And Snappy's warning about solar absorbance needs to be followed. If the film (dark auto film) absorbs too much solar heat; you can have thermal stress issues. Silver 15 films by most mfgs are good and the most cost effective. SCF introduced a Dual Reflective 5% this year which rejects the heat instead of absorbing heat so it is safer. Yes, it is reflective; but it blocks the light / glare. A buddy works the night shift and needed to block the light in his bedroom. DR 5 did the job and he loves it. Before he could never get his bedroom cool enough; now it gets cold & his a/c bill has gone down (he had film put up throughout his house). I have a link to the specs. http://solarcontrolfilmsinc.com/dualreflective5.html VLT 6% Glare Reduction: 95% Solar Absorbance: 38% TSER: 88% Dry Adhesive and comes in 72", 60", 48" & 36" and partial rolls are available in 10' increments. Good luck.
I just use Madico SunScape SL180 for Major Glare issues. ITs no %5 VLT but you'll be vacuuming with the lights on no matter what time it is...

Nay, you don't have to worry about that. With 5%, nobody can see the dust so you won't have to vacuum anymore.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
