Full Version: Hi all
Hello everybody my name is Dan i have recently started tinting teaching myself as funds will not stretch to do a course and was hoping for lots of hints and tips from experianced people? (sorry to be cheeky). My first problem seems to be when i tint my windows i seem to get lots of little white dots, no matter how much i clean my window it always seems to come back and most of the time in the same place (it is 1998 ford mondeo) i have the correct tools and window cleaner. I have dirt off and window fitters glass cleaner blue colour i always apply it with either film on or fairy rinse aid and bottled water i always use a fresh blade and white scrubbies i do it in a 95% dust free enviroment. I have a small ind unit what am i doing wrong. Not sure what make the tint is. Can anyone advise me of my errors.

Most of the time it is the distance from there to the car window.Have a search on how to clean windows properly on the forum youll get some step by step cleaning guides everyones different on how they like to work.
It sounds like dust contamination. Make sure you wipe down the top edge of the glass right before you apply the tint. stick your fingertips to a scrap piece of dry tint, it will pull off and dry skin or tiny particles. Make sure your fingers are wet before handling the film. What is fairy rinse?

ok i will try thanks, fairy rinse aid is from the dishwasher as i was told that was best, what do most people use when applying the tint?
I use baby shampoo. If other tinters use that(fairy rinse) I would imagine its good.

It wont make a difference - it's dirt!
Do a bit of flushing with clean water before install. And while we have you - please fill in your location in your profile.
sorry have updated my profile

It depends on where you are getting the contamination in the film as to what is causing it - you are probably touching the film onto door frame/ window surround whilst installing. If the dots are all over the film it will be most likely be down to dirty water/bottle or dust - but less likely ,or you could be sucking the shi* and dirt out of the window channels when installing. Or all of the above.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
