I am not looking forward to it... unsure exactly what to quote, I have never done such a job...

the small squares are 9" (30 of them)

the bigger ones are 13" (50 of them)

just using a silver 50% and they are single pane windows

Thanks for the input!

Just do it. Theres good money in it, and with the film as light as that there is no real problem.
Keep in mind that there are 80 different pieces of film you'll have to install so it'll take some time so charge accordingly.
I'd suggest precuting the film with a slight overlap or if the panes are all the same you can try and make a precuts precise so it can be just lick&stick at the job.

i love doing french pains Flaugh.gif because noone else around here wants to touch them. I just use a cutting mat and straight edge and precut then a little oversize so i just slap it up and trim the three sides and bam done in like 2 mins each. Make a lot of money that way dunno.gif
TomTint
80 windows, 3 min a window, 4hours of work, maybee 4.5 hours if you give yourself .5 to cash the check
Richardapu
how much would you charge?
TomTint
We are not allowed to put prices on this site,However I can tell you thet we do them all the time on some incredible homes on Nantucket and Marthas Vineyard. Wood frames, usually painted or at least stained sashes. The last one has 1400 panes and the bill was well into 5 figures. 2 people avraged 18 windows per hour

i don't know if you've order the film yet, but ask your film company if they have any odd ball cuts in their warehouse. i use to buy any odds for 40-70 bucks. 12" thru 24".
i use to check weekly for odd cuts, it helps when you lots french panes.

good luck.

i do french panes regularly and would suggest using a paper cutter with a rotary wheel to precut them. everything about your prep technique is magnified on a job like this. even more with silver because contamination looks terrible at night with the interior reflectivity.

When we do them we have the rolls pre cut from the manny / distributor. I have them cut to about 1 inch over the H and pull the w off the roll. We dry scrape the edges first and sweep all the crap away with a paint brush and then clean as usual. When we apply the film I always have the factory edge on the top so there is little or no contamination. Then trim the two sides and the bottom, You can easily do 15 - 20 per hr with a helper

The material is pretty much free for this section of the job, I will be able to use the waste from the other windows in the house to do most of these...

thanks for the replies

The last job I did with individual panes, I made sure to get a SOLID measure on all of them. All were practically the same. I plotted them and it was a lick and stick install

If you use a paper cutter or something similar and cut them square you would only need to trim 1-side and the bottom. thumb.gif

i like to oversize them by .5" that way if the frames aren't straight or anything or my cuts aren't square(happens a lot Flaugh.gif ) then thered be no gaps. the ones with french pains are always the ones who want like a DR 15 0r 20 so any gap shows

Many on here would say they wouldn't mess with it. I would absolutely take the job, as stated, bid accordingly, there is plenty of labor to be done here. Good luck!
