. Did a quote the other day and saw he had a sample from another competitor on his desk but partially hidden. He said he was getting 3 bids so i did a high bid saying i might get a deal from my supplier and i would contact him in 3 days if i could give him a deal . He wouldnt talk about the other companies though. Do you ask if he has gotten other quotes before or after the presentation of your written quote. ? do you ask them to show you the other products info?

i ask all my quotes if there getting other estamates. a couple reasons why.. 1st it opens the door for more conversation about the manus. if they say they have other quotes already then there shopping for price, or they didnt trust/like the other guys. this is where you make your product shine. mention "with tact" there are lots of re boxers and shopping around is good. tell them the more they know about film and how it works, who makes it, the warranty/track record of the manu the more likely they are to make an educated decision on there purchase and will be happy with there decision for years to come.

if there answer is your the first. it can go two directions. you can close the deal or you can be the other guy. if you dont close the deal right there, do a follow up phone call. i usually wait a week. make the call, remind them who you are, tell them you doing a "follow up of the estamate you did for them" then ask if they have made a decision on there purchase. dont be shy, they will tell you either way. if they didnt choose you.. oh well. say thanks for your time and maybe we can do business in the future. if they say they havent made a decision, ask if there is any thing you can do to help them. you would be surprised how many custys need a kick in the butt to motivate them. just calling back will close deals for you. hope this helps.

Absolutely ask if they are getting other quotes. I ask to see other estimates and info if possible to be able to show differences in film performance, warranties and such. Most times customers eyes are glazed over when you talk about TSER, VLT and other terms unless you can point to it on a page. twocents.gif

I hate being the first one in. I like being the last. I aways ask if they are getting multiple quotes, and who may have been there before me. I try and get as much info as possible before giving a quote.

I did an est. the other day.. and the guy said he had talked with a couple other places. I asked who they were and if they were going to be giving quotes as well.

I always try to get as much info as I can in order to help me give a good quote.. but I won't go low just cause they are getting more then one quote... Like TJ said - I'd rather be last then first.

now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
