Sungard NR Supreme Question?

Custom Search

I jsut had my nissan xterra tinted and they used Sungard NR supreme 40 on the front two windows. The rest are stock. The concern was to stay legal by mixing the 40 with the factory windows with a very slight tint. Here are my questions:

1.) Could I have gone darker and still been over 25 (Texas law)?
2.) Is this greenish tint normal or are there tints that would be a true grey or black color?

The installer did a great job but I didn't know to ask about the shade until it was already on. I want this tint to be as black as possible like the rear windows.

Great forum by the way, very helpful!

Thanks!

i think you mean solar gard not sun gard. sun gard doesn't have a supreme.
but anyways, most 40% meter low 30's depending the car. and most 35% meter around 25, again depending on the car. twocents.gif

good luck

You are exactly right, it is Solar Gard. Did I make the right call or should I have gone darker or with a different brand?

From the website, it looks like there were two shades (40 and 28). 28 mixed with factory may have dropped too low (under 25). Maybe I should have gotten a different brand that has a 35 range instead.

As far as the color goes I know the express window film true black matches GM factory tint to a T.

with that brand and line of film, you got the right stuff.

you could have gone with a 35 or maybe even 30, but would have had to go with a different brand.

the green is common with many lines of film but not all

bingo.gif since the law is probably +/-3%, you MIGHT have gotten away with using supreme 28, but that would be pushing it.

second, you don't have to worry about "mixing" the factory tint with the fronts, since the meter reads only the piece of glass, not the whole car combined.

third, supreme is slightly greener looking than some films from the inside, but thats not all uncommon with any film. You generally either get green, brown, blue, or purple hues looking out of the film. Yes, express window films true black is as close to a neutral grey looking out, which is one of the reasons I personally use that as my main line of film.

But don't be worried, Supreme is an awesome film, and I would use it everyday if I could justify the cost of almost 3x what I pay for my express film. My fathers car has been tinted with supreme 8, 28, and 40 for the last 3+ years and still looks as black and true as the day it went on.

Supreme is very Color Stable.. great upsell film.

now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
