My only source of advertising is word of mouth, vinyl on my truck, flyers and 3 lawn signs. I talked to a yp rep and got a price for some stuff.

Pier 1 Listing on yellowpages.com- I have a banner potential customers can click. they also build me a website. It also puts me at the top of the page when being searched locally.

Yellow Pages Book Ad- Its in full color and its a bit bigger than a dollar bill.

What are your thoughts?

If you can make 3-4 times that in profit off the add, then sure. If you break even, then no. twocents.gif

When you search for something do you go to yellowpages.com or Google? I'd invest that money into Google Adwords and have your ad appear on the search results and on related websites. Probably much more ROI and you wont be committed to an entire year if it doesn't work out. twocents.gif

I agree... whenever I am looking for something, I always go to google first. Even if I know the name of the place and their location.

I make it a point to ask every customer or caller how they heard about me... I've gotten more response by setting up my business for free on Google and making it look polished (added a picture of the shop, did a write up, linked to my website, etc) than I have off any Yellow Page ads, ever. Google is great and it's what everyone uses now it seems... And it's free, and if you spend (not exagerating) 5 MINUTES setting it up, it will stand out from everyone elses that was set up by their Yellow Pages or whatever.

Also my vehicle is wrapped, and bang for the buck when it comes to being recognized and 'well known', that was the best thing I've ever done...

Google's Local Business Center is where you want to go to set it up.

Yellow pages is an obsolete directory.
Go to the web, Google, Yahoo, etc.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
