Full Version: Auto tint for FG

I know your not supposed to do it, but the reason I ask is because I have a customer that basically wants a film that is exactly like a 5% auto film. He said he doesn't not want anything with a silver look to it. I use suntek film and they don't have any FG film that dark w/o a silver look to it.

Depends on the size/type/location/exposure of the glass.

And (if) it's possible to use on your customers windows then you can get DL5% from LLumar!!!! It comes with a 7 year warranty i believe!

It a store front thats gonna be tinted, not sure of the exposure it gets. If I can tint this, I wonder if i should use suntek carbon, hp, or the dye line.

Johnsons has the MG05 which is a very black 5% flat glass film. If you don't need that dark they have the Nightscape films in 15% and 35%. All those in a dry adhesive and much easier, IMO, to handle when you are dealing with a large window.....

Use the pre-cut program and you can order the amount you need...

Madico has Charcool as an approved flat glass film, and offers a lifetime warranty with all shades for resi, 10 years commercial. Will it hold up? My guess would be no...but I have done it before.

I know in my neck of the woods a lot of that type of glass is tempered due to code... maybe it'd be tempered there too???

Good luck with that one. Dont forget, not just exposure, but also partial shading, uneven heat. This can cause problems with the glass also. Since it is a store front, why would they care about it being reflective? 5% is going to block visibillity anyway, and a dual reflective will be safer....................... twocents.gif

If it's a store front, I assume it's getting direct sunlight. Therefore I don't recommend putting a 5% on it. Your almost guaranteed to crack the glass or the seal or both. Use the NS15 if it's single pane. If it's dual pane go with NS25 or DN20.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
