i wonder why they went with 42% instead of just 40% ?? and the 15% would be nice to have something between the 5 and 20%

i think i will try out a 50ft roll of the 42%, that may be better to go with just to make sure its in the safe zone. i like the look of the 35, but would like to have something a tad lighter, i will give it a shot

Yeah I checked it out and I too noticed that the %'s that you speak of are on there. The 43% for me will be good if VA changes to net instead of film. for rear windows.

has anyone been using the 42% yet?? I have done 2-3 vehciles with it and the 42 is sweet looking, its just a tad darker than using my 50%. Just wanted to get some feedback on others using it. I am hopeing that Howard with come up with some 55 or 57% film in the future!

Ok so whats the deal with the warranty not picking up for the first 90 days? Id like to try some of the 42% but i dont know with whole odd ball warranty deal. Howard can you chime in here when you get time?
i can assure you he won't let you down, true black is a very good product
(opus @ Jan 5 2010, 03:16 PM) [*]742176[/*] Ok so whats the deal with the warranty not picking up for the first 90 days? Id like to try some of the 42% but i dont know with whole odd ball warranty deal. Howard can you chime in here when you get time? I never actually read the warranty card until this post, and never saw that part My guess would be that its enough time for any water to dry out of the film, even in really cold weather, so there are no "false" warranty claims due the the haziness or anything like that. Also, its enough time to iron out any installation issues that may warranty a redo, so that it doesn't peel or anything that could also warrant a false claim. Really though, what film is going to fail in the first 90 days? I would be curious to hear the reasoning behind it though too
You're exactly right. There is virtually a 0% chance that the film would fail within the first 90 days. However, if there were some undetected/catastrophic deficiency in the product we would certainly get you and that customer taken care of cheerfully and without delay.
Many installers might not be aware of it, but it is not all that unusual for retail customers to contact the manufacturer directly (shortly after the application) and inquire about minor installation related observations like tiny bubbles, seams, dot matrix issues, daylight gaps, haziness, etc. We want your customers to be patient, allow the film to dry (regardless of the season) and if they have never driven a vehicle before with film on it, to get used to it. 90 days gives them a chance to "settle in". I realize that it's not a mainstream practice in the industry, but innovation is what we are all about at EWF. I would not be surprised if another major manufacturer followed suit at some point in the future. They must get the same calls that we do. So then, for the record: It's a "soft" 90 days. If there is a bona-fide problem, you have my word that we will cover it. -Howard

They seem to use really thin funky boxes... I had a 60" roll of film I ordered from them split totally in half and ruined the roll...
They didn't even hesitate to ship out a replacement roll... but it did cause a delay in the job that kinda left a bad taste in my mouth when it could have been avoided with better packaging Now the black Global boxes... those things are pretty awesome! Really, the boxes aren't that thin. The only film I've ever ordered in a 60" that was strong and not bendy was Global too. Howards boxes are relatively strong and stiff, as can be seen when you open the roll and the lid/flap is extremely tough and rigid to flip around to the back. Its just that UPS is not very careful with their boxes, and once you get a kink in one side of the box, it loses all its structural integrity after that point. I have a few that have one small crease, and no matter where I pick it up from it buckles at that point. Sometimes its nice to have clean and perfect boxes like Global comes in, but then again its going to get thrown away and noone is going to see the box ps- i like the ghetto tape job UPS did to put it back together
Unfortunately there isn't a box strong enough that a truck driver can't destroy!
Scotty... scoot along as once again you don't have a firm grasp on what you are talking about I talked to Howard about it a year or so ago... and his answer was that packaging the film in a better box would add a couple dollars to the sell price of the film.... I personally would have gladly paid the couple extra, known the stuff would show up in good shape and collected for the job on time (TTS @ Jan 8 2010, 11:36 AM) [*]743288[/*] Scotty... scoot along as once again you don't have a firm grasp on what you are talking about I talked to Howard about it a year or so ago... and his answer was that packaging the film in a better box would add a couple dollars to the sell price of the film.... yeah mine havnt been damaged at all! A mark here or there! But you cant blame that at all on EPW so blame fedex or ups who ever is to blame, depending on which is shipped through!
