Devil with bad attitude
Pentagon would have to be concerned in a big way hey?. Aren't they the biggest automotive tint concern in the UK?
They seem to be the major player advertising in British car mags for tinting.

pentagon are big players in the uk!! the general feeling is supply 50% on the fronts! so far the police havent pulled one person for tint!!! they had a bit of a point to make late last year when they pulled motorists and checked their tint ,and got some of them to remove it,but all they did was remove it, get the police ok then get it put back in!! never been bothered since, also i had the police right behind me last night, they had loads of chances to pull me over but never did! thats the 5th time (not that im counting!! inot.gif ) since new year i.e since the law was updated, that the police have been driving right behind me and never pulled me over too check!!! it's all going to dissappear again! you see, plus i'm looking into flatglass tinting as you mentioned before!! i'm looking at all angles!!! cheers!! alc2.gif

My Webpage

We have done an incredible amount of work on advertising, film and television sets, such as the Bond Films (The World is Not Enough), Big Brother, Fame Academy, The Salon, Red Nose, BBC News, ITV, as well as car ads for BMW, Ford, Honda, Vauxhall, Saab, Jaguar and many others.

Who is their supplier, Fimmo?

Just to make you uk guys feel a bit better - copy of an e-mail I received from a potential customer below:

"I have looked into window tinting by asking a local police seargent and he informed me that any tinting to the front windows is illegal but also said that unless they were very dark he did not know of any forces that were stopping cars. I am therefore looking for what I would call a light smoke just enough to make the car stand out a bit but not enough to get in trouble. I am sure you appreciate what I am saying."

from the general feeling out there i assume the police arent pursueing this law again!, remember kids, the 70% vlt limit has been here since 1982!!! the only difference is that the law on paper says 'window film' as that was considered to be a loop hole? things is,no one got done before! and it looks like no police force is enforcing it as much as we feared they would! i'm still going to be applying 50% and i still have 70% to offer but so far when they see the 70% they squint their eyes and say! 'nah, want tint i can see!' so at least i'm offering it!!
sdtintin
so what is every1 using on the front im still using 35% im considering 50% ,every1 ive explained the new law to have just said oh well tint em anyway so its not realy affecting me as such ,il keep tinting them until i start getting people coming back that have been told to remove it ,i had 1 guy come in with a fiesta and he was told to remove all the tint ,apparently that is the law
DapaaTints
although the law has been clarified the cops are no wiser - had a customer just call me to tell me that he was pulled over as part of a routine check along with a dozen other drivers by a fleet of copers. This guy has 35% on the front and a 6inch strip on his windscreen. Coper checks his car for defects and then comes to the tint. He measures the 6 inch strip on the front windcreen and then advises the driver that its illegal and can only be 40mm in width, copper gets into car with his little pen knife and rips the strip off. Coper then lets the guy go.

40 mm is about big as half of my finger.

these guys have no idea!!!!!!

Today tinted a Nissan Xtrail for dealer and got to do it asked what film they wanted , so he rings customer and i spekes to them told him "LAW" he says my wife is a copper and she wants the front doors in 40% and rear in 5% sweat.gif hmmmmmmm.gif so what are we to do when the PLOD want there cars doing thumb.gif

i've just heard that my local competitor (the only one in my direct area!)is about to go out of business!!! not that i like to hear bad things like that but it leaves a lot of tinting jobs to me! by the way,it's not thru the lack of tinting that he's shutting down,i've heard various reasons but mostly the fact that he opens when he wants then shuts early! doesnt care too much, and likes a 'smoke' if you know what i mean!i'm not complaining! as for the law,i'm offering 70% film for the fronts and funnily enough not one person has went for it??? they all go for 35%??? i'm really trying to offer 50%,i know thats still over the limit but it looks so clear, they shouldnt get any bother with it! thing is no one is getting any bother with 35%!!!
sdtintin
it does seem kinda odd that nobody seems bothered by the law change i tell every customer and they say oh well just tint it hmmmmmmm.gif i actualy got a request for 5% all around yesterday inot.gif

Hi Guys

I thougth you might like to know that in the south there does not seem to be much interest from the Police re darkness, they still are using the rule of thumb "see the driver, not interested"
Although I am told that Surrey has issued light meters.
I have a Traffic Inspector booked in nxt week to get his own car done (35/20) and he thought the forces that were chasing drivers were rather sad and Obviously had lots of time on their hands. hmmmmmmm.gif
He told me that the only time film would come into it was if there was a bad accident and the feeling was the driver could not see. Well there you go, straight from the horses mouth Uhhcopy.gif

We have fitted 50% to the front (for the first time in 3 years) and I have to say we like the look if used with a darker film to the rear, this is not a vocation where you stop learning Fbigeyes.gif

cool
the general consensus is sod wot they say if they want their cars tinted they will have it done it doesnt bother them. i also think 50% looks great. we will see wot happens over the summer months evileye.gif

It is my opinion that a 50% tint all around and over factory tinted glass to start with does look incredibly classy. It could be quite easily sold on the basis of prestige over hoon and comes down to how well you project your expertise in the window tinting game.
Following that direction provides a more viable long term business.
Just my 2 cents. Lead by example rather than be a follower like sheep. thumb.gif

fimmo , around 10 companys in the central belt in scotland met up to see what we all thought about the ammended regulation.about 7 out of ten dont seem interested in fighting this but those who do have started the ball rolling and arent about to give in without a fight mad3.gif it might fall on deaf ears and will take months and months to get to someone who will listen but its in motion and i really believe if EVERY tint co in the uk along with the manufacturers stand up and be prepared to challenge the law we might get some where.we all did agree we would like to be able to fit 50% on front doors so its not as if we want dark tint legalised although i agree with the other guyb its the industrys own fault as it was never regulated to stop people fitting dark tint in the first place. at the moment all they are doing is driving window tint co.s underground as everyone still needs an income , people have families to look after. anyone with any info that may help the industry please help! hi gennygen! who were the ten tinters???? when did this happen??? if you read my other post 'letter from the house of commons' you'll get the idea of what level i'm at! to be honest,my feeling is that given time the majority of the worries over this 70% limit will fade away and we'll be worrying about something else soon enough!

this was my main problem from the start---all us uk tinters were up in arms complaining about this,so when i decide to do something about it everybody gets behind me and says 'go for it' & 'we'll help' did they fook!!! i only received 3 yes 3 letters of support! you know who's you are!!! cheers once again for taking the time to do that!!!! nobody else done nothing! one of my biggest helpers is on the other side of the planet! TINTDUDE! he helped with the posts that i put up everytime! cheers for that as well!!! thumb.gif my point is when this trade falls to piece's one day it's all your own fault! i tried (and still am!) to do something about it and if you read my other post i think i may have gone too far with the under secretary of state Fbigeyes.gif but i had to do something! only time will tell! i'm going legal,i'll tint within legal boundarie's and if i lose work because of that then so be it! i'm not a hack but i have to make a honest living,i just hope that there is a trade out there to keep me employed! broken.gif
fimmo
one other thing! you'll never get ALL uk tinters to support this cause some (or most) just dont want to get involved????? :booga and to finish- you'll never get any manufacturers to back this as they are all to scared to say something in case the mighty GGF complain against them!!!! listen up you heard it from fimmo first THE GGF ARE A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY! ALL GGF EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE SACKED NOW! REPLACE THEM WITH PEOPLE WHO KNOW THE INDUSTRY AND STOP WASTING OUR TIME!!!! the ggf can complain all they want to me but i dont give a shnizzle!!!! (i'm learning to speak fleunt american!) i still cant believe there arent any uk manufacturing companys willing to back us?? it's there business too! without us they are nothing!!!! poop.gif
gennygen
fimmo there is another meeting next wed. night if you interested give me a phone @ strathclyde auto tint , i am in yellow pages
sdtintin
had a customer come back today that i tinted a few years ago she had been stopped n told to remove the 2 front (20%) and the sunstrip ,she was told the sunstrip can only be 6 cm hmmmmmmm.gif she asked what she could put on the front i said nothing if ya wanna stay legal shes coming back saturday for a new sunstrip they actualy metered the glass ,still think the law sucks tho

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
