Full Version: Scratches?

93turbo
I recently purchased a brand new saab 93 and had the windows tinted on it, after waiting 3 days like the installer had told me, i rolled the windows down and after putting them back up i saw a bunch of vertical scracthes on it, he said he can replace the tint but the only way to prevent that is to cut the inner seal. Is that true? Will more wind noise enter the cab? It just doesnt seem right that i should have to cut the seal on a brand new car? hmmmmmmm.gif If anyone can give me some advice that would be great. orngbiggrin.gif

sounds like the seals need to have felt added (alot of cars are comming out with no felt on the seals anymore) I'd call around and see which shop in your area will apply felt.
Mr paladin
if the seal is plastic and not felt you may have to ad the felt

i dont think Saab had that PRoblem with its Gaskets.

i'm glad the installer will replace the tint, check to see your self if theres felt on the inside of where the glass is resting against a quick look will tell you or not if theres felt. then you'll know the fix.

I really appreciate all of your advice thumb.gif but the inner seal is lined with felt and is still scratching the tint, should i just cut the seal? Will it effect anything? hmmmmmmm.gif

Since your car is 10 yrs old, it could have a lot of "grit " on the inside of the gasket as well...might be worth a check to clean it..I always remove bottom gaskets when possible..and I notice alot of times they are filthy on the inside of them...the dirt could be grinding into your tint wit heach roll down...might be worth a check thumb.gif

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
