Full Version: Radio Ads

There are several radio stations out there. Have you ever asked yourself which one will give me the best results when I advertise over the radio? The answer is staring you in the face every time you work on a car. Most customers listen to the radio in there car, if not in there car they listen to the sam station at work or home. Make a list with six colums and look at your customers radio in there car. See which stations they have programed in there radio. They are either in numerical order or in order of importance to the customer. After about 30-40 vehicles you may start to see a pattern. Pick the station that you see most in your list and put your $$ where it counts.

Very good idea. That way you find out what your demographics are at the same time.

been doing it for years and the top in my area are in order:

1 local country station
2 local r&b hip hop station
3 local classic rock/rock station

radio ads are so expensive though

TOTW!!! Now thats using your brain!

In metro detroit it depends on which crowd you are going for. The older crowd is 100.3 for music or am950 for news, and the younger to middle age is 95.5 the top 40 station. Although during the morning show, 95.5 has the biggest one with the most listeners in detroit, so it just depends on the time of day also.

good tip....but I have always found radio advertising to be a waste of money. twocents.gif

Alot of people are switching to satelite radio which may be harder or costly for just regional advertising..

but....sirius XM was/is close to filing bankruptcy...so watch it there.

The last radio ad I used, I put in the old "Mention you heard this ad on "XYZ radio" and receive XX% off!"

After 2 months of running the ad in prime season at prime time....I had one person mention the ad....and he was a cheapskate with an old piece of crap car. evileye.gif

Hence the reason (as I said at the beginning) it was my last radio ad. Flaugh.gif

I did that too, on 6 stations for a while and I got one good customer from it...
I'd like to keep doing it, but with the way things are, it's just not cost effective...
Plus the "bang for your buck" just wasn't there for me....

It is actually cheaper here to do a TV ad....

I've relied on location and reputation for 10 years and it has done well for me thus far.... beer.gif

I did radio ads couple of years ago, biggest waste of money, then the radio reps try to keep you going by saying you neded to try another month, in my opinion its not worth it unless you can saturate the air, and I can only imange what that would cost

Ive been called by an AM station here in Houston that I listen to everyday. It is very expensive. If I were to do it (for commercial/residential only) I would advertise on AM only. I stereotype, I'll admit it. In my opinion, people who listen to AM radio tend to be a little better educated and have more money to spend, as opposed to someone that listens to only rap music stations. I have no evidence to back this theory up with, its just my opinion. Hammer away at me...I know its coming.

Doesn't that tell you something about Howard Stern quality of talk!?!

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
