oldtinter
Never really had a problem with those at all. Some older models maybe.
Zrok
ok, i thought i read that they had an air bag sensor in the doors or something like that, or was that the benz??? i can't remember.
oldtinter
dunno.gif Haven't had anything blow up in my face yet. spit.gif
Zrok
AR15firing.gif how's that?? (i guess that's a good thing) do you recall reading about anythng at all to do with air bag sensors in doors? or was it something about a control module in the doors of a benz?? i just wanna make sure before i go tinting a bunch of these brand new cars and get angel_grinning.gif lol
Mdog
i think that was the benzo, all i hear abou the lexus is the thick defrosters.
Protint
Never heard anything about the air bags either. The only thing that I have had problems in the past is the thick defroster lines leaving bleeders along them. Preping them with steel wool will remedy that problem.
J.P.
The only one to worry about is the LS430 with the navigation system. Just control water use on those. The IS300 is a b***h to get behind the speakers and I still haven't figured out how to remove them. All the brake lights are easy, slide (hit) them to the left and lift out. Except the IS300 which takes a little prying to loosen the cover then lift out and reasemble before install. Oh yea the defrost lines are thick but you will get used to them. Other than those things great car line for tinters. "If you do the tint for the Lexus dealer you must be good and you must do my car." If I had a nickle for every time I heard that I could by us all lunch every day, and I would too! Good luck and enjoy.
Zrok
thanks JP welcome to the boards, what's wrong with the LS430?? control water where?? back glass, doors? how to prevent costing a bunch of money? thanks man.
S and S
done about 5 lexus with no probs!!!!
Zrok
thanks S AND S no worries....jp got me wondering about the LS 430 tho...hey, since you've done a few do you use onyx or something not metallized and do they all bead up the water really bad ??? i hate that crap. thanks beer.gif
Sprinter
JP you need to get a 12 inch black n white combo and you will never have any more problems getting to the lower half of a window with speakers again.
J.P.
It's just the bg on the LS with the nav system. I think it's located on the driver's side. Just don't rinse very heavy near the bottom and you will be fine. I've done the Lexus line for about 13 years now. Do about 20-30 a month. I have a card that I use to get behind the speakers but it would be nicer to do them with them out of the way.
Sprinter
I would agree with you on that one, why do the speakers have to be so big, or at least easily removeable.
J.P.
No s**t. I even went to the service forman to see how and I'm telling you it doesn't look like Lexus wants them to come out.....ever.
Mdog
i tinted a es300 today, i have to say it was one of the easiest cars i have tinted dunno.gif
oldtinter
Ditto mdog, I had the pleasure today also, too bad I forgot the camera, we could have compared the look, my gal went 50% all around, looked good.
Chicks Tinting
I did a 300 today in 35% all around very nice look .But that speaker was a bear. Only on one side .. of course. I think the speaker is glued down to the deck .Whick mean take out the seats.. no thanks. I used a rat. tail to get in . :rant pain in the ass
J.P.
If you are talking about the ES 300. It must have been an older one. That big speaker/brakelight comes out by prying up on the front corners until they pop and then you pull back and out. The new ones just hit to the left and lift out.
advcarhifi
Good luck with LS 430 fr.right
advcarhifi
I've done maybe 100 of these . Pretty easy if door pannels and rear deck removal is involved.

Yep.... Especially the IS300... it seems to "peanut" on the defroster lines when I wet shrink it.

In UK i have done the lexus is 200 which has tall speakers on rear deck you get better job if you take them out , it just means takeing out rear seat then deck with speaker grills fixed to rear deck, then the speakers are bolted to sub frame of the car, takes a bit longer but worth it in the end thumb.gif beer.gif

i have an ls 430 to do tomorrow, it's an '03 and i don't know if its got the nav system....any help ?? :booga
Johnnytint
zrokewl24 I do 3 Lexus dealers in the area. The LS 430 has never given me any air bag problem with or without nav so dont get to worried about the electronics However there is a major problem with the Pass side Door it has a self cleaning coating on the glass. It must be removed or the tint will peel. You can see that soapy water beads up only on that one door. It also is on the older (2002- and down) RX Drivers door, Both doors on a GX and both doors on an SC. Message me if you want help removing the coating. Good Luck Lexus is a great dealership lots of work
tintguy
Why just the passenger door? Ive got a lexus LS 430 on FridayNov 7. Let me know if anybody encountered any problems

What is a self cleaning coating?
alltracpete
Yeah.. that self-cleaning coating?? Where did you get that from. THat sounds right, I was told it was a Anti-fog coating, but that never seemed to be a reason for that. How you get it off? can you?
yajie
For I-250, you don't worry about airbags sensors they won't work even broken down.I had a car accident two weeks ago on the free way.
IS-250 car was totally broken down, but no airbags came out.
Last week, I contacted to Lexus custom care.
They called me that they wanted to see the car and explain why the airbags didn't come out so I gave them where my car was and my insurance information.
Today, a Lexus department speciallist called me. He said they won't see the car because I didn't die and my insurance company will pay all for the accident. I was so fraustrated by him.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
