help

im doing 1 of these monday but im a bit concerned about the rear screen as it slopes back and it looks like a real pain to do ,has any1 done 1 and are they as hard as they look

The return flanks are the hard part to get right......the bits of glass that go down beside the engine.
Use some film and make it sacrificial to get the exact pattern right first.
Where the glass bends (around the head area), it will require some heat shrinking there.

quick update ,tinted the car today tried to cut the film with the screen in place and couldnt get no where near no room to move etc si i decided to remove the screen to tint it ,after 1 hour of removing 7mm nuts and numerous interior panels the window finaly came out ,tinted it perfect let it to cure for a hour or so then whent to replace it CRACK ,doh not good 2 big cracks top to botom , spoke to the customer (who was there at the time ) n he was cool about it ,refitted all the trim panels etc and he was happy with the job ,just gotta get on to my insurance tomorrow to see if they will pay for the replacement ,hopefully they will if not im in for a big repair bill ,i had a chat with the customer and his cool to have a 2nd hand screen if wh can find 1 ,ive found a salvage yard with 30 ferraris being stripped so hopefully they will have 1 ,mental note to myself dont remove rear screens from a ferrari grinning_and_saying_no.gif broken.gif

DID it brake while you was taking it Out. or Because you tinted it. I have Heard that some Of the glass Breaks right away when you Tint em. mostly on exotic cars. ANy way, Good to hear that Coustomer was very understanding. thumb.gif

Sd,
Your not alone. I did one as a result of a accident out of the car and it was $5000 for a new one. Fbigeyes.gif
They are laminated which can be a problem with any twisting or heating. Wish I knew you were going to that extreme because I would definately advised not to go that route. That's why I said make a sacrificial pattern out of actual film first.
My original install prior to the new one going in was no worries and looked terrific.

thanks guys

unfortunately my insurance company is being a asss and are trying everything possible to weezle there way out of paying for it ,so i said fook it il just pay 4 it be done and put it down to experience ,rung around every window dealer in the uk nope nobodys got 1 ,spoke to a guy at a ferrari dealer and he informed me that this piece of glass is very fragile n its a very common thing for these to break ,hes had people hit a pot hole in the road and the shock has cracked the screen ,finaly located a screen (5 of them actualy) £1240 each so i rung the customer explained what was going on with the insurance etc n said i will just pay for a new screen and he said he will pay half for the new screen inot.gif i thought that was very nice of him ,im going to collect the screen tomorrow tint it out of the car leave it to dry for a few days then its going to a pro windscreen installer to refit it ,if they break it then i know where theres a few more Flaugh.gif ,1 guy at a ferrari dealer said that so many rear screens get broken that they actually sel perspex rear screens from clear to limo black for £200 handy to know i guess ,ive mad a mental note now that if i get a phone call to tint a f355 just to put the phone straight down sweat.gif

im just glad the guys cool with it all

the window came out fine and tinted great a real light shrink was all that was needed it broke on the way back into the car

Tint it after you get it installed because we wouldn't want to hear about you doing yourelf harm if you break it again. Serious, don't take the risk again.

cool
why didnt u get the perspex one?? and maybe explained to the customer maybe saved yourself a lot of money.....i been waiting for one of these to come in my shop but now im gonna turn it away
sdtintin
i said about the perspex screen but he wasnt interested said he wanted a glass 1 ,i went over to see the car monday and it had 2 tiny specs in the side glass n i mean tiny so i said to the dude to be honest if i strip it n retint it i very much doubt i will get it any better than it is (i thought it was perfect) but he said he wants it absolutely perfect ,so i offerd him his money back ,he was cool tho he said i could keep the money n just remove all the tint n he will take it to pentagon and they can do it for him ,he was cool tho i must admit ,my advice to any1 out there steer well clear of f355 ferraris inot.gif trust.gif oh n he cant get any1 to fit the new rear screen rekon it may have to go back to the dealer to be replaced
Devil with bad attitude
SD,
This guy is unbelievable. Now he's going to take it to another company for 2 specks? :ahole Pity the other company. spit.gif
This bod will have to be about as close to the customer from hell you could get.

"Don't remove it" just in case some other damage occurs. By all means give him his money back and P him off. flipa.gif That way he has something for free but I've got a bad vibe about the next saga and that will be the bill he hits you for getting the window fitted. Are you expecting it?
