Mr paladin
went to the dealer today to take a good look at one, they look pretty easy other then probably having to remove the rear deck .
thetintshop
i was looking at one yesterday that had already been tinted. looks pretty easy.
i know the place that tinted the one i was looking at. if they can do that good on it, it must REALLY easy. Flaugh.gif
Mr paladin
TTS did tint over the brake light?
thetintshop
yes it was over the brake light. must be able to get to it without pulling the rear deck. cause this place ain't pullin nothing. Flaugh.gif
mrdave25
Ive tinted five of these cars and you do have to pull the deck to get behind that brake light. After you take the deck out the first time, its cake after that. The rear side seat posts are tricky though.

They the ones with the new hemi? I want one of those babys to put in my charger. beer.gif

Okay..here's the scoop on this car, I did one the other day. The tinting is easy..the gaskets pull out no problem without panel removal. The rear deck has to be removed to tint under the brake light .

The rear side seat posts wont be tricky if you read this...or you'll do what I did.

there's 1 10mm bolt you take out for them but B4 pulling the peice out like you would on a Malibou, take your plug puller in behind where the clip is holding in the top part of the seat post and push down , then pull it away to release. If you just pull on it , you will break the clamp off the side seat post that is held on by a rivit and you'll have to replace the rivit with a screw (but the "button" part of the rivit will be lost in the seat post and will "rattle" ( I had to drill a small hole in the back of the post so the piece would fall out )

So my next one will be easy thumb.gif

You say push down.. down on what.? The bent tab that goes into the hole behind the seat? it looks as if the part goes up then back then down.. so you would push down on the top of it? I did one yesterday and cut around the light, but remembered seeing this post before, so I tried it but after a minute, gave up, I'll try it on the next one..

Yes! exactly..sorry I didn't have my camera on me at the time , so it is hard to explain in type until you see it..but the way your asking is right thumb.gif

Tint Wizard is right. Same thing happened to me today on passenger side only. Had a guy call for an estimate saying i was too high -" the windows are so small."
Well, don't be mislead, you have to remove deck lid and visibility for replacing 4 of the screws for side plastic seat pillar covers is not as easy as you'd like. Also, if you cut around I'd say it would look pretty novice.

Best part of story, the desperado called after I'd closed up after working from 7 to 12. I gave him a price over the phone and said MondayI would try and get it in. He said I'll pay you $200 extra. Needless to say I drove the 45 minutes to my other shop and collected $495 after 3 hours. thumb.gif

I need to move to your town.. I couldnt steal that much from a customer.... I mean, wow, that guy was anxious... I had to talk my last 300c from a hotel because he wanted it done before he left town.. I get the one phone call for price... then a return call (after shopping around) ten minutes later for a time.... routine
Mdog
i did one today thumb.gif thought it was pretty easy except for getting those gay clips on the back sead side bolsters gay.gif

Hows the reardeck removal done???
LEO'n'DARTZ
U mean 300 C??? I bought it... Any probs with tintin'??? Never seen.. My tinterZ too....
TintWizard
OK..I have an update on this car from my old posts...I described the side seat post removal as best I could ..if you go back and read it ..you can follow it up with this pic to see what I was talking about.

Also I found it MUCH easier to use a wallpaper scraper to push down on the clip ,then pull it away. In the pic , I'm showing it once it's released...in reality iy's tight up against the deck...this is why a wallpaper scraper works well(I'm sure anything of similar thin shape would) Hope this helps for an easier removal than how my first one went as described earlier thumb.gif
TintWizard
other than this peice ..it's an easy car..rubbers on doors pull out without panel removal...deck comes out without seat removal orngbiggrin.gif

You can also get behind that brake light with a bulldozer or something of the like without taking anything off. I know everyone is hell bent on their own way of doing things, but thought I'd throw this in just so ya'll know if you haven't tried it yet.

Thumbs up to you if you can thumb.gif ..I took one look at that and figured there was no way in helll that was going to be installed cleanly using my bulldozer.
OCC
tried that a couple of months ago ended up with creases but more power if you can get it thumb.gif
thetintshop
i tried to get my bulldozer behind the brake light and it was a no go. grinning_and_saying_no.gif the deck is an easy removal. i'd rather remove it than try and fight a third brake light---or end up with a messed up piece of film.
TintWizard
that was pretty much my conclusion as well TTS Flaugh.gif

ill give th glass a good scrub. then i use a 5/16" thick wedge of nylon board material.....slam it between the glass and 3rd. shrink the bottom, slam it in further, shrink the top.

remove board. and tint before your gap goes away.

8x10 5/16" nylon board with a strip of e-tape for a squeege edge. bend into arch. so arch is bowed away from glass slam straight down, rotate out. one pass each side of the light. dunskies.

Bless your pea pickin' lil heart TW ! yahoo.gif It's done did !

She got here at nine and we visited a few minutes deciding on shades, I thought it looked easy... but then the light business concerned me. AND fur smashed up against the glass at the bottom so even if I had cut the light hole out grinning_and_saying_no.gif it would have been a fight getting down in there with it.
Thank you for sharing the scoop TW and the pics. thumb.gif

Oh! the passengers side pillar already had the rivet missing and a 7mm screw in the hole holding the clip. I didn't do it. dunno.gif Guess the audio man didn't have access to TD. sweat.gif
TintWizard
No problemo orngbiggrin.gif

Glad to hear it went well for you BS! beer.gif

Just put the back back together. Went in smooth. thumb.gif I found that rivet somebody broke down in the crack of the carpet. orngbiggrin.gif

Rubbers ripped right out long as you take that one screw out in the door handle . gasp.gif coffee.gif

Oh yeah...my first post sounded like I had finished the whole car. grinning_and_saying_no.gif Just the back.

like to have 5--- bling-bling.gif 300's a day
SIR TINTSALOT
i just use my clipboard and push all the water from behind the damn light, screw taking apart the whole mug. yeah the headrest are tricky the first time you do them after that it's nothing
Exact-Oh
Cake. And I cut around all lights, and didn't have an issue with deck carpet touching the glass, so no deck removal. The thing looks a lot darker than most, 'cause the windows are so short.
Devil with bad attitude
Any Aussies done a 300 just in case our local car converted to right hand drive is any different from the US ones?
Third light the same?

We are finding the getting behind the 300 with any back window tool is a rare occasion. The first 4 or 5 we did last year we were able to....every single one since then grinning_and_saying_no.gif
Devil with bad attitude
The Aussie one is the same as yours but fortunately the owner didn't want behind the light tinted.
The door glass front and back does finger a little.
Nice gasket to get out though.

Must not have put an eyebrow on the last couple because I did one this morning and the pretty good sized shape of painted black of about 5 inches in the middle of the top of the windshield made it so I could use two scraps I had...except...I did the passengers side first then used it for a pattern for the drivers side...they are NOT the same length on both sides. The drivers side it wider. evileye.gif
