At the end of the day I hate cleaning up tint all over the floor. A few years ago I started taking my scraps while hand cutting and tossing them on top of the car after cutting. When I was done cutting I threw it in the trash which eliminated the mess on the floor and started my install. This might not look good to some customers if your in a well viewed shop. I definently don't do it to high end cars but the usual daily drivers I do it all day long and haven't go a cross eyed look yet.

I throw all the scraps on the floor inside the car and then just take a few minutes to throw them out when I am done,I got in this habit from doing mobile jobs, simular concept

I fold each scrap piece, place the fold in my and toss all leftovers when I finish each window. It always helped keep me from barking at a customer who interupted what I was doing. I looked like a rabid tinter filming at the mouth...

i take each scrap and place them in a brown bag and staple it up also i put tape on the bag just in case the staples come loose and place them in a line on top of the car, then i dispose of the bags and start to tint remember the 4|\|4L retentive cook on SNL?

i put all my scraps on the windshield or the bg. i never lay anything on the paint. even if it's a POS or a ford product. if the customer is there, i throw them on the floor, and pick them up as soon as i'm done with that window. i never leave scraps on the floor. if you've ever pulled a groin, or busted your ass, you probably don't throw them on the floor either. wet tint on a concrete floor is just like ice.

I usually cut each window out and as soon as that window is tinted, I discard the cut film and liner into the trashcan if I am at my shop. If I am mobile, then I usually put the film on top of the car or windshield and then discard it when I am done with the entire car.

I stick them to any window wet enough to hold them. They normally hit the trash after every two windows (double cutting). I agree on the slippery concrete thing. I have had a few close calls. I try to toss the liner ASAP too. They are terrible, even on dry concrete.

i have a 30 gal trash can on each side of the car. whichever tint im using at the time i sit on the trash can. and as i double cut each window i just make a quick flip right into the trash can. no need to handle scraps twice. just remember not to sit the cans close enough to the car in case it tips over it wont hit nothing.

I do the same as some of you. I usually put all the scraps on top of the car and later on disose of it in the trash. I was very careless when i first started and use to throw everything on the floor until the day i slipped on a piece of liner and slipped and busted my ass

QUOTE (Protint @ Jun 3 2004, 08:44 AM) I don't think tint surfing is your forte i have to correct you here pro, because everyone says it wrong. "forte", is actually pronounced "fort". but everyone says it like it's spelled "fortay", which is wrong. go look it up on the dictionary, so the next time you say it, you'll say it correctly. and everyone will look at you like you're a dumbarse.

I just throw the scraps anywhere I can, and when I'm done with a car, it looks like a TINTSPLOSION!
I always pick up after each vehicle, though, because I get tired of stepping on scraps after a while.

I put my scraps on top of the car too. If I don't then they get wet on the floor and are a pain in the arse to get up later. Speaking of putting things on top of the car, I put my spray bottle on top so I don't constantly lose it. I covered the bottom with fabric so that it does not scratch the paint. It's amazing how easy it is to lose something in a garage as small as mine.

putting the scraps in a pile on the car or directly in the trash is the most efficient way of controlling your scraps. if you go to throwing them on the floor you expend extra time picking the crap up again plus you get your fingers dirty digging around on the floor.
i sit mine on the car in a pile for easy pick up at the end of the tint job.

I just toss all scraps under the car and sweep em after I pull the car out. Got me one of those dust pan on a stick/ broom combos. No bending over this guy. Tinting is hard enough on the back as is!!!

I try to make the garbage can with most of my scraps, about 1/2 make it ! The other half I sweep up after each car! 100% of my liners make it though TTC

I FLIP ALL THE FLOOR MATS OVER AND TOSS ALL MY SCRAPS ON THE FLOOR BOARD OF EACH CAR. AT THE END OF THE DAY THERE IS NO MESS. I ONLY HAVE TO SWEEP AND MOP EVERY 3 DAYS

Why don't you toss that caps-lock button in that scrap heap while you're at it?

I'll second that motion... Do you SHOUT at your scraps before you throw 'em away?

I take each individual scrap and mail them to the local hack tinters so that they can use them to piece together their $20 camaro rear windows. But before I put the stamp on the envelope, I SHOUT at the scrap to anger it so that when it reaches its destination, it explodes in a fit of rage when it is opened. Just a form of tint counter-terrorism toward the hackers.

i just stuff the glove box and send them on their way, plus i dont have to worry about bending over to pick em up EVER. (the crack of back seats works well too...pay back for all the tools they've eaten over the years)

I use to put my discarded Olfa Blades on top of the car as I was tinting. BIG MISTAKE. Not because I ever scratched anyone's paint just because a customer freaked on me once thinking a snapped blade was sure to scratch her paint. Mind you it was a POS car but I suppose it's beside the point I won't ever do it again as a result.
I can't imagine snappin a blade off on the hood or roof of the car harming anything if you carefully remove them afterwards. Most times I would snap them off on top of a scrap piece of tint. Low and behold the one time I snap one off and it hits directly on the paint I get called on it and then some.
Awe $%#@ 'em if they can't take a joke I say. Another reason not to let 'em watch you work.

i had a long time customer come in with a car he was waiting for it, he was outside the shop and saw me snap one, he said could you please be careful with that? i said wtf? i said sure, i walk out towards and snapped in front of him, i said is that better ?
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
