My rep came by today with some of the new LLumar Paint Protection. The film when first looked at on the roll, you will tell that it is a totally new system. The film has a cap sheet (a layer of film, kinda thick, that you will have to remove prior to installing the film) and it also has a relief sheet (same type of relief sheet at regular tint) that you will have to take off to expose the glue surface. Both the cap and relief sheet are clear unlike Brand X that has no cap sheet and a paper relief sheet. The cap sheet is at first a little difficult to remove but with practice it is not too bad. The relief liner comes off real easy. When cutting this product on a plotter you will actually cut it backwards than brand x. You will cut through the relief sheet and film but not through the cap sheet. The film is so clear that it will amaze you. I think that it is so clear that you could apply it to the driver roll up window on the outside and you would not be able to tell that it is there. The film applies very easy, alot easier than brand X. It will conform to complex hoods and bumpers easily. It seems like you will not to add not near the amount of alcohol to the slip solution as before. I will need more time to figure out the perfect blend of film on and 99% alcohol. This film is ausome! I hope that I can buy some soon.

My only proble with the Llumar film I have had was its very thin (like 4mil) this does indeed make it very easy to stretch and install, but it does compromise the actuall energy absorbing function that the film is put on the car in the first place for. We use 3M (6mil) and Avery (8mil) film and have seen instances where both these films were compromised by normal road debris under extreme circumstances, and while it is a trade off between material thickness and visual obtrusivness, I really would not want to go any thinner than 6mil if the films going to maintain a reasonable level of protection to even make it worth while to do an install in the first place.
