There is a reason most tinters advise customers to not roll newly tinted windows down for at least 2-3 days. It'll give the glue more time to get set so that what happens to you during a check doesn't happen to them when they roll the windows down themselves. squeej ray246 tint hizzo Posts: 37 (10/14/02 12:53:41 pm) Re: another roll down question thanx for the reply but i'm thinkin the film is peeling when i roll the window up thanx ray(uk) poontangstangguy Posts: 122 (10/14/02 1:44:36 pm) roll ups it should not peel if you have it sealed down good. you can look from the outside to see if it has peeled. sometimes i push out on the window when i roll it up. it helps sometimes i think, but its not needed that much. tintfx Posts: 13 (10/14/02 2:00:15 pm) Re: roll ups when you squeegee the water out at the top to stick the film make a couple of good hard passes, that should be enough to get it up in the frame, or you could lightly push the window away from the frame as you roll it into place. If I use a heat gun on a roll down, its usually after the install and its to just speed up the curing time, and thats if I really like the customer. Your causing yourself too much grief by rolling the window back down. It does show that you are meticulious with your work though, which is good when it comes to tinting, but its a good rule of thumb to cut the things down that are unecessary to save time on an install. In time, being thorough will make you an excellent tinter while your competition is just average. ray246 tint hizzo Posts: 40 (10/14/02 2:09:18 pm) Re: roll ups thanx again guys ray(uk) show me the money FLY TINT Hard-Card Hussler Posts: 191 (10/14/02 4:41:48 pm) Re: roll ups Hmmm... You spent a couple minutes taking hte door panel off... Why not invest another 30 seconds to undo the clasps on the glass and pull it right out of the door? Thats what I do, and i have yet to see one with dirt in it, or a comeback... That way you can put em back in, and the customer can roll them down when they leave... Becuase the tint is Waaaaaaaay below the moulding, so it cannot snag... ray246 tint hizzo Posts: 45 (10/14/02 5:18:47 pm) Re: roll ups could do that but i dont know how to remove windows lol show me the money FLY TINT Hard-Card Hussler Posts: 199 (10/14/02 5:45:59 pm) Re: roll ups Most vehicles, you roll the glass down 3/4 of the way, peel back the plastic, and look for the 2 bolts that hold the glas to the rail... Undo them, twist glass forward 45 degrees, and lift out to the outside... Once you try one, you will see just how much easier it is... Plus, if you take out a tinted glass, you will notice there is 1 inch clear gaps on the sides... These you will never see if you tint it out of the car... It makes glass that shifts forward alot easier to do... Try it and let me know what you think. ray246 tint hizzo Posts: 47 (10/15/02 2:26:43 am) Re: roll ups thanx flytint i'll try one and let you know how it goes ray(uk) show me the money OmahaSpeed finger fighter Posts: 61 (10/15/02 7:04:42 am) Re: roll ups Before you roll the window all the way up use a "heavy" soap solution as a "lube" and spay the inside and outside of the top and side of the windows that goes in the track, also spray the track, give a little slight pressure on the glass from the inside and then roll them up. The film shouldn't catch. You wouldn't pull apart 2 pieces of plastic you just superglued to see if it stuck would you? Good luck on that window removal .....I don't want my "helpers" taking out any glass. Sounds like a sweet install though. ray246 tint hizzo Posts: 49 (10/15/02 7:06:54 am) Re: roll ups thanx i'll try and remember all these tips ray(uk) |
