Subaru Weather Strips

Most Subaru's have a second "inner" weather strip inside the door panel below the outer one. Roll the window down, pull the rubber back, and you will see it. It causes the tint to peel over the course of a couple months (not all the time, but quite often). Trim out the front corner with your olfa. Few minutes of extra work is bettter than taking time to strip and retint a door when you already have 20 cars on the books for the day!

I tint subaru's for our Subaru dealer for yrs now..I just tuck the weather strip , never once had a peeler come back ..must be lucky I guess

Yeah, i tinted for subaru a couple years ago, and maybe 1 out of 10 came back. Maybe it has something to do with the weather where you live, or maybe you're just lucky.

The dual weather strip concept is the norm with many cars today, not just the suburu. Suburu may have a stiff one, though... I'm talking weather strip... Cutting that Subaru weather strip away can create problems in the future... I have had it come back and bite me! 2 each their own.

I didnt say cut it away...read....just small piece of the front corner.

Cutting away door trim weather strip is not one of the nicest things to be doing to someone's new car........it's very unprofessional. If any tinter was found to be doing that for the sake of not spending a few simple minutes taking off the trim, you wouldn't last 5 minutes in our local industry. The collective competition would have "your guts for garters" as we say. An off and on with a Subaru takes about 30 seconds each way and 2 Phillip head screws per door. I know because I tint heaps of them and currently own an Outback which is my 4th Suby.
