Tinting over Tint?

FORT SLIDER

i have some silver to smoke tint on my truck and i wanna go darker without removing it, can i put tint directly over it? if so, how will i clean the tint without scratching it (prep the window), and if i can't overlap 2 layers of tint, why not? thanks

Over lapping is ok...just use some soapy water and a squeegee to prep...if you miss some specks you might not see them due to the layering...

i have tinted over tint for as long as i can remember, as long as the original tint is in good shape it should be ok. i double layer all my vehicles in the back.

double layering is ok, as long as it's not a moving window. sliders, side glasses, ect. don't seem to work too good. in my past experience anyway.

i always put double 5% on my truck rear windows and ext. cab window i have doubled 5% too. funny thing is the kids when they ride back there playing there gameboys they bitch and complain that they cannot see what they are doing even on the brightest of days because it being so dark back there

I really can't add anything to this, everything has already been said. Except that if you offered a warranty, the mfg wouldn't uphold it for 2 layers. I doubt that is an issue for you. I also have many times doubled up film, works fine, just dark as heck, and hard to see out of on cloudy gray days. Really, the only reason I posted anything, was to see if my avatar was here or not. 1st post on the new board as a member! Yeah!!

I clean using my white scrubbie, real lightly, works good never messed up the underlying tint.

5% Double???? why not just Paint them??

paint it flat black so you dont see the reflection of the stripes on the streets in the backglass while driving.

i just wrap a few layers around my head so i dont have to see anything.

s&s you're right it would be better just to paint them :confused but i have always doubled the rear on my personal trucks just cause i like the look with it singled you can still see an image i just got a little ghetto in me i guess

i used to do it on my truck back glass. i quit because i got tired of customers telling me they wanted thier back glass like mine. but when i would hit them with an additional charge, they always backed out. so i just don't do it anymore. i miss it too!

kkcscott, why don't you just use 2 1/2% instead of doing 2 layers of 5? and i had silver to smoke tint on my truck, all 3 windows, and i just put another layer of 5 over that, dark as crap, looks really good though.
