Window Tinting Tip: Tinting Rolldowns

This week's tip is from TintMiester ~
Tinting Rolldowns:

Carefully observe the roll-up windows before you cut out and apply the window tint. Here is what you are looking for:

1. Look at the front and back edges, to see how far the inside edges extend into the window... You "might" need to undercut or overcut the film, for an easier installation, or to eliminate light-gaps.

2. Roll the window 1/2 way down, and back up, to "seat" the window in its final resting place (rip), while watching the glass to see if it wants to "shift" forward or backwards while in travel. This is also done, because many, MANY customers do not roll their windows all the way up, so if you cut the film to fit, you will have a light-gap at the bottom of the window when it IS rolled all the way up.

3. In some cases, like on a lot of Hondas, the front and back top edges of the window get pinched very tightly, and if you don't heat the corners with a heatgun, and allow about 1 minute to sit, the film might get peeled back on the first roll-up.

4. All windows will have just a few specs, or edge creases when applying the film.. Leave them alone till you are done with the car, then take care of all of them at the same time, as it will save time.

5. Some windows.. seems like especially fords, seem to have rain-x on the inside of the window, making your tint solution bead up and run off. Keep a super soapy hand spray bottle nearby for these extra difficult windows.

now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
